Summer Faith Formation: Join us this summer as we
explore our Catholic Faith. During the next several
weeks, we will be exploring the Catholic Catechism.

TRICKY TRAY NEWS - Our annual Tricky Tray will take
place once again this year on Oct. 22, 2010 in OLQP
auditorium. The doors will open at 6:00 pm. Drawings will
begin at 7:30 pm. MARK YOU CALENDARS! The
committee is looking for baskets and new items for

St. Pio Prayer Group-On the 1st Friday of each
month, the St. Pio prayer service begins at 7:30 PM in
the Church. After the service refreshments will be
served in the Church Auditorium and a video on the life
of the Saint will be shown.
During the prayer service there is a veneration of a 1st class
relic of the Saint’s blood. If you are interested in joining, please

Solemn Procession / Super Raffle Drawing:
We invite you to join us for our second annual Procession
and Rosary in honor of Our Lady on the Solemnity of the
Assumption (August 15) following the noon Mass. We will
close with refreshments in the auditorium and the
drawing of the Super Raffle at 2:00 PM. Join us as we
honor our Blessed Mother on this special day.

STEWARDSHIP: Taking The First Step; Bonnie Hanson was
a shy, reserved 40 year-old housewife when she decided to
return to college and seek a degree in social work. She tithed out
of her income as a secretary and believed she was serving God
the best she could. But God had more plans for her than to sit
back and relax, now that the kids were raised. She had been
given talents that God wanted to be invested in His Kingdom.
These were not natural talents. She was shy. She didn’t realize
she had been given the talent of teaching men who had been
arrested for domestic violence and required to attend a course on
anger management. Bonnie was not aware that in her was the gift
of spiritual knowledge, which would enable her to cut through the
men’s defense and get them to trust her. Many times, as in case
of Bonnie, abilities are not recognized until the servant is willing to
risk their security and use what they’ve been given. Are you
willing to invest your abilities to help your church in some way?

QUESTIONS ON THE ROMAN MISSAL, THIRD
EDITION – PART 2
What’s new or different about the revised translation?
The style of the translation of the Third Edition is different. In
accord with the rules for translation established by the Holy See,
the revised translation follows the style of the original Latin tests
more closely, including concrete images, repetition, parallelisms,
and rhythm. The English used in the Mass texts is more formal
and dignified in style. Where possible, the texts follow the
language of Scripture and include many poetic images.
In addition, the Third Edition contains prayers for the celebration
of recently canonized saints, additional prefaces for the
Eucharistic Prayers, additional Masses and prayers for various
needs and intentions, and some updated and revised rubrics (or
instructions) for the celebration of the Mass.
Can we start using the texts approved by the Bishops
immediately?
The translation of the Missale Romanum cannot be used in the
celebration of the Mass until the complete text is confirmed by
the Holy See. Once the translation receives the recognition, the
USCCB will establish the first day on which the new translation
may be used. Use of the revised text requires preparation and
catechesis for both priests and the faithful. When the time
comes to use the texts in the celebration of the Mass, priests will
be properly trained, the faithful will have an understanding and
appreciation of what is being prayed, and musical settings of the
liturgical texts will be readily available.

PAVING THE WAY -SUPER 50/50 - Our Summer
raffle is underway. If you have not bought your tickets
yet, you can buy them after Mass or pick some up at the
Rectory office. To date we have sold 1,469 tickets, and
the prize money is up to $6,167.50. Be sure to send in
your returns right away to get into the drawings. The
three prizes will be 25%, 15%, and 10% of the total amount
brought in (the total in so far is $12,335.00). The drawings
will take place in our auditorium on August 15th (at
around 2 PM) after our Rosary procession.
The proceeds will go into our parking lot fund. The
cost of our new parking lot is $104,000, and so far, we
have $33,798.13 toward it.
If you prefer not to enter our drawings by buying
tickets, donations to the parking lot fund will be gladly
accepted and deeply appreciated.

60TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS
Mark This Year's Calendar - November 7, 2010
Our 60th Anniversary Gala will begin with Mass at 3 pm
celebrated by Bishop John Flesey, D.D.. Mass will be
followed by a reception from 5 - 9 pm at the Hasbrouck
Heights Hilton. Good food, fun, fellowship, and great
dancing with a fabulous live band.
Ticket orders for the dinner/dance are due by September
15th. There are only 250 tickets available, so be sure to
get your order in soon.

vestibule, in the Rectory office, and can be downloaded

RESPECT LIFE UPDATE - Marie Tasy, director of NJ Right to
Life has announced that Bill S2139 has been introduced and
sponsored by Sen. Joseph Vitale and Sen. Loretta Weinberg.
Briefly, they are trying to restore the $7.5 million dollars (YOUR
TAX DOLLARS) to Planned Parenthood. This organization
makes money off of every abortion they perform! Gov. Christie
had cut this money from the budget but they are using other
means to try and restore this money. Please call Gov. Christie's
office and urge him to stand firm on his pro-life beliefs and not

Since the 40 Days for Life program began in 2007, it has grown
into a nationwide and international organization. We have been
informed that over 2,800 babies have been saved from abortion
through women seeing the prayerful activity outside the abortion
centers. In addition, 38 abortion workers have experienced
conversions and left the abortion industry and joined our ranks.

SOUP KITCHEN MINISTRY
On Saturday, July 17th, we served 260 meals at Eva's
Kitchen in Paterson. Many thanks to all who donated food,
served and helped us to transport the food. We could not

but have never received the Sacraments of Holy
Eucharist and/or Confirmation and now want to do so.
