1. Purpose:
This procedure is to clarify blade raw material identification by color coding and indent
marking or paint marking, this procedure is applicable from raw material receiving to dove tail
machining.
2.
Scope:
This procedure covers the coloring and marking of different materials, how to apply, where
to apply and when to apply.

5. Procedure for Blade Raw Material Traceability:
5.1 Raw Material Condition during receipt at STGI: (Supplier scope)
For the proper identification and traceability of the raw material, all materials have to be
color coded and marked as per the given method.
5.1.1
One end of the bar material should be painted in white back ground and the
respective Heat number, Batch number, Grade, Dimension details and Bar number to
be marked as shown in below template.

Other end of the marking side should be painted with respective color as per the
material grade.

5.2 Raw Material identification after In-house inspection:
5.2.1
Store receives the raw material and requests QC through Inspection request form
(STGI-QCB-F-026-R01) for receiving inspection
5.2.2
Once the material is accepted by QC, QC will return the Inspection request form to
stores. (Refer STGI_QAD_P_037_R01)
5.2.3
Store person shall paint the bar diagonally as shown below.

5.2.4
Stores shall ensure that grade wise raw material is stored separately. For lifting the
bar wooden blocks should be kept in between the bars.
5.3 Raw Material Cutting, Marking and color coding - In-house:

5.3.1
PPC will prepare Raw material cutting request sheet (STGI-PPC-F-003-R02) and issue to
Shop.
5.3.2
In-house cutting – Bar material shall be moved to cutting shop based on “Move
Order” slip and cutting request sheet.
5.3.3
Marking side of the bar should not be cut first. In case marking side is cut first,
identification should be transferred to the other side of the bar immediately after
cutting.
5.3.4
Before shifting to next process by cutting operator, cut surface should be colored with
the respective color code.(Refer 5.1.3)

5.3.6
Cutting operator shall ensure the respective Heat number, Batch number, and serial
numbers is noted from the bar and enter into respective CR.

number shall be taken from cutting request; running serial number should be given as
per the cut piece quantity.

5.4 Raw material Pre machining - Outsource:
5.4.1
Pre machining /sizing is done after cutting operation, marked side face of
the bar should not be machined.
5.4.2
Unless otherwise specified in PO length machining should not be done. If
PO specify length machining, opposite side of marked face should be
machined as per CR.
5.4.3
PO shall specify the weight and number of pieces send to supplier and
expected yield from supplier.
5.4.4
PPC should ensure the correct material numbering identification before
issuing to production.
5.5 Laser Marking - In-house:
5.5.1
Laser marking shall be done after Dove tail machining or ’T’ Root
machining.
5.5.2
Numbering identification shall remain same as 5.3.7
