In Minecraft the worlds are different every time, when you spawn yourself into a new world, it is
totally random and loads up as you explore it. There are lots of terrains to explore, such as
Plains biome Plains are mostly flat, grassy areas. These biomes are good places to find
horses and villages. Most types of animals can be found here.
Savannah biome This is a variation on plains with yellowish grass and Acacia Trees. As with
plains, horses and NPC villages can be found here. Although this biome
looks like African landscapes, the animals are horses, sheep, cows and pigs,
rather than the giraffes and zebras you might expect.
Forest Biome A Forest biome has a mixture of Oak and Birch trees. Here you will find
wolves, and occasionally mushrooms.
Birch Forest Biome This is a forest variant with only birch trees.
Roofed Forest Biome This is a dense, dark forest featuring a special type of oak tree with a fat
trunk. You will also find giant mushrooms here. Its dark enough under the
trees for mobs to spawn even in the day.
Jungle Biome In the jungle you will find tall jungle trees with Cocoa Beans growing on
them. There is also bushy undergrowth, making it hard to get around. As in
the desert there are ancient temples to explore. There are spotted wild cats
called Ocelots that can be tamed.
Desert Biome The desert has lots of sand. In the desert you will find cacti, NPC villages,
and sometimes wells and temples built by mysterious strangers. There are
no trees in the desert. Most deserts have very little water, but in some you
will see lots of lakes and ponds, often with sugar cane growing next to them.
Mesa Biome This is a variation on the desert theme, with red sand and hills made of
hardened clay.
Taiga Biome Taiga is a cold, Northern forest with spruce trees. There are three types of
Taiga biome. The standard one doesnt have snow on the ground. Wolves
can be found in Taiga.
Cold Taiga Biome Cold Taiga is like regular Taiga, but even colder. So theres a lot of snow!
Mega Taiga Biome This is Taiga but even more so! In addition to the usual Taiga features, there
are extra-large spruce trees, moss-covered roocks and lots of mushrooms.
Theres also a new kind of soil called Podzol.
Swampland Biome Swampland is flat, with lots of water and oak trees covered with vines. In
the water you can find clay, and Slimes will spawn at night. In addition to
mushrooms and sugar cane, you will find lily pads on the surface of the
water. If you see a hut, beware, its where a witch lives!
Extreme hills Biome Extreme hills offer dramatic scenery and very few trees. There may be snow
in the high places. Underground you may find emeralds.
Ocean There are several variations on the Ocean, including assorted beaches and
Deep Ocean which is where you can find Ocean Monuments.
Hills Hills can be found in the following biomes: Desert, Forest,Taiga, Jungle,
Birch Forest, Cold Taiga, Mega Taiga
Plateaus These are flat-topped hills that can be found in Savannah and Mesa biomes.
Mushroom Island Mushroom islands are the strangest of the lot! They are home to cow-like
animals called Mooshrooms. Instead of dirt and grass they have blocks of
mycelium, a dirt-like substance on which mushrooms grow to giant size.
When you spawn in a new world, that world is then given a seed which is kind of like the name for the
world. This can then be used to recreate that same world as a blank slate.
Everything in Minecraft is very blocky, they are made up of big pixels which you can clearly see. They
make it like this purposely because no other game looks like this. The simplicity of it makes it unique.
You could also change the look of the individuals game by adding a texture pack (picture to the right)
which you need to download off the internet.
There are objects that you can pick up, objects that you can craft out of other objects. objects like
tools can be crafted out of different thing, each ore being a different strenght that the othes. To make
a sword, you have to have an ore and some wood sticks. The weakest in durability is gold (33), wood
(60), stone (132), iron (251) and the strongest is (1562). The number represents the amount of hits.
This system works with other tools like shovels, pickaxes armour, etc.
In Until dawn, is based in a closed, dark woods at the Blackwood Pines lodge. This is where
the death of sisters, Hannah and Beth took place. They return on the year anniversary and
find that there are bad things around them.
The objects in this game, are as you walk/look around there are thing to interact with such as
letters, candles, Light switches etc. there are so many objects to interact with as such, more
like decisions.
Characters
In Minecraft, when you first start out, your character has what is called a skin, this is the original Steve
or Alex skin. You can go online and download a skin which is technically making your own character.
There are 6 types of characters in this game. The main of is you, the human. Steve and Alex are the
characters you play with. Through the use of skins, they can look like anything you want them to,
within the limitations of a blocky humanoid form. These characters have an inventory which can hold
up to 27 item, also 9 items on the hot bar which you can quickly flick between items. You cannot do
this if they are in the inventory, you would have to open it then move them to your hot bar, and the
hot bar stays on screen whereas the inventory will close. You have to keep your character alive. There
are two things to watch for, your hunger bar and your health bar. You have to eat to keep your hunger
up, you can attain meat by killing g animals and cooking what you get from it. You can also, if youre
desperate, eat rotten flesh which is dropped by zombies when killed. To keep your health bar up, you
need to keep yourself fed, dont get attacked by mobs, fall from heights, burn or suffocate. If you die,
then you leave everything on your person where you died and respawn either at spawn or if you slept
in a bed then there.
Another character category is the friendly mobs. Wolves become friendly after becoming tamed (a
dog), you can do this by giving them bones, which skeletons drop hen killed. They will follow the player
and attack whatever enemies (they will not go after Creepers) the player uses a melee attack on. If
the dog gets hurt by the enemies, then you have to give them rotten flesh which heals them. Cats are
made when an Ocelot is tamed sing fish to feed them, can be told to sit down, and can be bred. A
snow golems are created by building a tower of two snow blocks and a pumpkin head. Snow Golems
"attack" hostile mobs by throwing snowballs at them, and leave trails of snow as they walk.
Passive mobs dont actively help players, but are harmless. Pigs and sheep are one of the first passive
mobs in the game, they drop meat when killed, or cooked meat when burnt to death, pigs dropping
pork chop and sheep dropping mutton and wool. Cows being the third passive mob added to the
game, it gives you milk if you have a bucket and drops leather and been when killed. Mooshrooms are
a strange variety of cow that appears in the mushroom island biomes. They give milk when milked
with an iron bucket, but they give mushroom soup when milked with a wooden bowl. They can be
sheared to drop red mushrooms, which eventually turns them into normal cows. Otherwise has the
normal features and drops of a cow. Chickens are the fourth (and smallest) passive mob added.
Randomly drops eggs, and drops feathers and their meat upon death. Immune to fall damage, as they
just flutter down. The squid is the fifth - and only aquatic - passive mob in the game. Drops ink sacs
upon death. Villagers will buy and sell items to the player. The more the player makes trades with the
villagers, the more items they will offer in future deals. They can be killed by enemies and take a while
to reproduce. Ocelot are a big cat that lives in the jungle biome, can be tamed with raw fish to make
cats. Bats are the first passive flying mob and the only flying mob that spawns in the Overworld.
Horses, donkeys and mules, Donkeys and Mules can carry chests on their saddles, which allow for 15
slots worth of items. There's a Skeleton varieties of horses. Rabbits can be breed with carrots, golden
carrots or dandelions to make bunnies. When killed, they drop a rabbit hide and their meet, four rabbit
hide can make a piece of leather.
Hostile mobs will seek out and attack players on sight. Zombies are the first hostile mob added to the
game. They make moaning sounds and drop rotten flesh when they die, which can be used in place of
pork to heal tamed wolves. Desert Biomes spawn a variant of zombie called the Husk, these cause a
hunger effect should their unarmed attacks hit. Husks are more dangerous than normal zombies, since
they don't burn in sunlight. Chicken jockeys are an extremely rare enemy that has a 1/2000 chance to
appear since the 1.7.3 prerelease when a zombie spawns. It consists of a baby zombie riding a chicken,
and has the health and abilities of both monsters (it can lay eggs and is immune to fall damage like
chickens, and moves at lightning speed, can pick up items and tracks players like baby zombies). It also
tends to kill itself by accident. Skeletons that wield bows. They drop arrows and bones upon death.
They make rattling noises when not on the attack. Snow Biomes spawn a variant of the skeleton called
the Stray, these cause a slowing effect should their arrows hit. Large black spiders jump at the player
and climb up walls. During the day, they turn passive and only attack if you attack first. They drop
string and spider eyes upon death. They are identified by the "skeee" noises they make. Spider jockey
are another rare enemy that has a 1/100 chance to appear when a spider spawns. It consists of a
skeleton riding a spider, and has the health and abilities of both monsters. It also tends to kill itself by
accident. Cave spiders are a blueish, venomous variety of spider that only appears in abandoned
mineshafts. They are much smaller than normal spiders, being able to fit through 1 block wide
openings, and are capable of inflicting poison with an attack. Creepers Tall green, vaguely plant-like
things that has the ability to explode. They drop gunpowder upon death. Slimes are the fifth mob
added to the game, Slimes are gelatinous cubes that spawn in specifically-designated caves or
swamps. They drop slime balls upon death. They hop around making slimy slapping sounds. Endermen
are tall, dark, slender creatures that spawn in the dark. They like to pick up and rearrange blocks.
Normally neutral, but if you just look at them, they'll attack you. They have a small chance to drop
Ender Pearls on death. Silverfish are strange bugs that pop out of special mined stone blocks found in
strongholds and occasionally in large mountain interiors. Witches look like villagers, but wear pointy
hats, have a wart on their nose, and use a variety of potions to attack like any other stereotypical
witch. Witches are the second Overworld mob that can attack from a distance and its potions can be
quite deadly to the player or any other mob that gets in its way. In the nether, there are lots of mobs
such as ghasts, magma cubes, blazes, zombie pigmen and wither skeletons. There are three bosses,
the ender dragon protects the end, the guardians protect an ocean monument and the wither is from
the nether but can be spawned in the overworld.
The characters in Until Dawn are a lot more in depth. They have a personality and features to their
face, they even have their own actor playing their voices. Hayden Panettiere as Sam, Brett Dalton as
Mike, Rami Malek as Josh, Galadriel Stineman as Ashley, Noah Fleiss as Chris, Nichole Bloom as Emily,
Jordan Fisher as Matt, Meaghan Martin as Jessica. Sam is described in-game as diligent, considerate
and adventurous. She seems to be the most level-headed and friendly member of the group and is
rarely the cause of drama, even though she can be spunky and have somewhat of a strong personality.
Mike is described in-game as intelligent, driven and persuasive, Mike is known among the survivors
for being promiscuous, and seems to "love women" despite his hatred for commitment, and is very
popular with them. Josh is described as thoughtful, loving and complex. Josh's interactions with the
other survivors tend to be humorous. He cares for his friends, acts as a brotherly figure to Chris, and
likes to make sure everyone is having a good time. He goes to Sam for support after the loss of his
sisters. Ashley is described in-game as academic, inquisitive, and forthright. She seems to love books.
She dislikes horror movies and dreams of being an author. Described as methodical, protective and
humorous, Chris' three highest base traits are charitable, funny and curious. He's very affable and has
a witty sense of humour which can be off-putting to his friends. He's analytical, not one to believe in
the occult, and isn't easily scared. Emily is described in-game as intelligent, resourceful and persuasive.
She has a quick tongue and sharp wit and is known in the group for her withering put-downs. She
mentions that she has a 4.0 GPA during an argument with Jessica. Matt is described in-game as
motivated, ambitious and active, which is mostly remarking on his visible passion for sports. Despite
his impressively strong appearance, Matt's character is far from being impetuous: he generally comes
across as friendly, even being described as the good guy of the group by Dr. Hill. He's not the sharpest
tool in the shed, but he has a big heart and knows when to stay out of the way of situations. Jess is
described in the game as confident, trusting and irreverent, Jessica is a typical provocative young
woman, who is quite brash in personality and dreams of being a model.
All characters in Minecraft are NPC, the only one you control is yourself.
Technically you can also control horses etc because when you ride them you
can steer them.
There are no NPCs in until dawn, you will get a chance to play as each character
at one point or another.
Feedback interface
Minecraft, the game doesnt progress itself as such, but you progress as
a player. The longer you play, the more materials you collect, the more
places you see, the stronger tools with better enchantments etc.
In Minecraft, there are only two perspectives from the character. The first is first person, on screen
you can see what they see, including what is in their hand. In your hand will be one of the items on
your hot bar. You know which slot this item is in because it will be highlighted.

Omnipresence
Roller Coaster Tycoon is a series of video games that simulate amusement park management. Each
game in the series challenges players with open-ended theme park management and development,
and allowing players to construct and customize their own unique roller coasters. To play, pick a
scenario where you have to build your theme park from scratch. For example, choose Forest Frontiers
in RCT 1, Roller Coaster Heaven in RCT 2, and Cosmic Craggs in RCT3. The park doesn't have to be
closed. In RCT1 and 2, you cannot build while paused, but in RCT3, the game can be played whether
or not you are paused. When your entrance area looks full, build something bigger. Click the build icon
and choose "Thrill Rides". Try to pick something small, like a swinging ship, or a spinning twist. You
can repeat this step if necessary.
Zoo Tycoon is a business simulation games. The games focus around building and running successful
zoo scenarios. To play, you need to build several exhibits and put inexpensive animals in it. Put one of
each gender so they will breed and replace the ones that die. Build donation boxes, about one for
each exhibit. Donation Boxes help earn more money for your zoo. You can find them under scenery.
Get several guests going into your zoo and then build a food court with one food stand, one drink
stand, and a few benches and bins. Put a restroom nearby too. Maybe put in a gift stand, and after a
while, upgrade to a shop, more stands, and maybe even a restaurant. People should be eating,
drinking, and viewing animals by now.
Single-player & Multi-player
There are pros and cons for Minecraft single player. Advantages are nice, very scenic view, great
possibilities for building, better, bigger caves and more resources. Disadvantages are harder to
explore/get around the world, less or destroyed/misplaced NPC villages, temples etc, more lag
(depends on computer), a lot of flying islands/weird terrain, difficult to catch animals, every fall means
death, can't torch whole terrain, animals, villagers will kill themselves easily. Pros of multiplayer, If
you want to do it the really hard way to get items, then you'd do Single Player, but if you go into
multiplayer they will already have all the builds, kits, items money etc setup for you so you don't have
to break wood, get a pick mine stone make a stone pick until you are "good". Multiplayer is easier to
setup, you have many different plugins and they are really simple for owners that have no experience.
In Single Player it gets boring when you have no one to chat to, though you can get other people onto
your world but you will have to make it multiplayer. Cons are People tend to swear on multiplayer and
if you are a little kid playing and you aren't allowed to swear then that could be a problem. Some
people's parents don't approve their kids playing a game with strangers from a different country. You
need Wi-Fi to play on multiplayer.

Ethnic
As an interactive form of media, video games have a stronger impact on the way we view the virtual
world we play in, in comparison to other media such as films or television which are more passive
ways to intake media. Yet, video games are probably the furthest behind when it comes to the issue
of representation. The lack of accurate representation in video games and the implications this has on
the way we view race, ethnicity and gender could be viewed as highly problematic. This is because it
could lead to further perpetuating unfair biases and stereotypes of marginalized groups in society.
This doesnt really apply to Minecraft as it is all very blocky and you cant see the characters properly.
The characters can be anything prom an actual person to a cow or a squirrel. But if you look at some
skins very carefully and closely, you may be able to see a skin tone change.
In Until Dawn, all the characters have a background with their own parents, their own childhood, all
look unique and are all from somewhere. Emily is Asian
woman, mat is African-American man, Ashley is Caucasian
woman, and Jessica, Sam, Mike, Beth, Hannah and Josh are all
American.
Goals
In Minecraft,
the only goals
are goals that
are set by the
player. There
are no official
goals. Their
personal goal might
be to get a horse, or to build a house, or enchant a full set of
armour. They might change every day with what they have done
within that day.
The same with Until Dawn, there is an end to the game but no
goal. Again, you could have personal goals, in this case,
you could keep all the characters alive, or kill them all or
keep certain characters alive.
There some challenges in Until Dawn, every now and then there will be an
achievement that pops up saying you have completed a challenge. You do
not know what the challenges are but it unlocks if you do it.
Player actions
Until Dawn is designed to be played multiple times, as players cannot see all content with a single
playthrough. Each playthrough will last about nine hours in length, and the game mechanics utilize an
in-game system called the "Butterfly Effect" in which any choice of action by the player may cause
unforeseen consequences later on. For example, locating a weapon in an earlier chapter may allow
the player to pick it up down the line when a chase scene leads back to the same room. Throughout
the game, players will make difficult decisions during ethical or moral dilemmas, such as sacrificing
one character to save another.
Rules
Dont move > Hide > Close Door > Barricade > Run
Difficulty
Difficulty is an option in Minecraft that has a direct impact on the ease of gameplay. Difficulty is an
option in Minecraft that has a direct impact on the ease of gameplay. Peaceful: No hostile mobs can
spawn naturally, except shulkers and the ender dragon, which do not deal damage. Also, no spiders,
cave spiders, zombie pigmen or endermen neutral rather than hostile mobs can spawn naturally.
When any of these mobs attempt to spawn (whether naturally, through mob spawners, spawn eggs,
or commands), they are removed from the game instantaneously. Easy: Hostile mobs spawn, but they
deal less damage than on Normal difficulty. The hunger bar can deplete and will leave the player with
10 Hearts if it drains completely. Cave
spiders cannot poison players on Easy
difficulty, and the Wither won't cause the
wither effect, although wither skeletons
will. Lightning only sets the struck block on
fire, not surrounding blocks. Normal:
Hostile mobs spawn, and will deal standard
damage. The hunger bar can deplete and
will leave the player with 1 Heart if it drains
completely. Hard: Hostile mobs spawn, and
deal greater damage than on Normal difficulty. The hunger bar can deplete and the player will starve
to death if it drains completely. Zombies can break through wooden doors and can spawn
reinforcements when attacked. Spiders can spawn with status effects. Hardcore causes the player to
spawn in Hard difficulty and does not allow it to be changed. In single player, if the player dies, the
player can choose to respawn in spectator mode or delete the world. In Multiplayer, if a player dies
they are automatically banned from the server.
Until Dawn isnt difficult to play in the sense of pressing buttons but mentally, because of the butterfly
effect it messes with your head.
Game mechanics
The inventory is the pop-up menu that the player uses to manage items they
carry. From this screen a player can equip armor, craft items on a 22 grid, and
equip tools, blocks and items. The player's skin is also displayed here.
Unfortunately, there is no
inventory in Until Dawn, so Ill
be using Day-Z. The inventory
is the pop-up menu that the player uses to manage
items they carry. From this screen a player can equip
armor, craft items on a 22 grid, and equip tools,
blocks and items. The player's skin is also displayed
here.
Balance
In game design, balance is the concept and the practice of tuning a game's rules, usually with the goal
of preventing any of its component systems from being ineffective or otherwise undesirable when
compared to their peers.
Feedback
The computer players tend to perform better when you're winning, this is a typical example of
negative feedback. Positive feedback seperates player by their skills and strategies.
Addiction
There are two major types of video games and therefore two major
types of video game addictions. Standard video games are
generally designed to be played by a single player and involve a
clear goal or mission, such as rescuing a princess. The addiction in
these games is often related to completing that mission or beating
a high score or present standard. The other type of video game
addiction is associated with online multiplayer games. These
games are played online with other people and are especially addictive because they generally have
no ending. Gamers with this type of addiction enjoy creating and temporarily becoming an online
character. They often build relationships with other online players as an escape from reality. For some,
this community may be the place where they feel theyre the most accepted.
