AGENCY BACKGROUND
The San Francisco Housing Development Corporation (SFHDC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation
formed in 1988 by primarily San Francisco African American community leaders who were interested in
combating the widespread displacement of residents through ‘redevelopment programs’ that
disproportionately affected African Americans and other people of color. Focused on serving people of
color, our mission is to foster financial stability through the development of affordable housing, the
facilitation of homeownership and the economic empowerment and revitalization of Bayview Hunters
Point and other neighborhoods of Southeast San Francisco.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary:
This position will provide direct, comprehensive support services to youth residents of Hunters Point
East - West, and Westbrook communities. Each community is a current public housing site that is
transitioning to private management as well as undergoing renovation through the Rental Assistance
Demonstration Program (“RAD”). The housing and offices are located in the Bayview Hunters Point area
of San Francisco. The overarching goal of the position is to support, plan, facilitate, and monitor youth
activities in our summer and afterschool enrichment programs. The position will require interaction with
youth participants to enhance intellectual, creative, artistic, and technological skills. Further, youth
engagement will encompass a behavioral model to address behavior to improve program activities
outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 Plan and implement daily youth activities that will meet the needs of the youth, in collaboration
with the site supervisor.
 Co-develop with site supervisor a policy and procedure guide for all youth activities.
 Co-collaborate with site supervisor in designing and implementing activities to advance
intellectual, creative, artistic abilities of youth participants.
 Monitor individuals or small groups to assure understanding of program rules and procedures to
promote appropriate conduct of youth participating in activities.
 Monitor youth to ensure health, safety, and physical well-being is considered by all staff or
volunteer personnel at all times.
 Cooperatively establish a monthly calendar of program activities and events designed to
complement student learning enrichment.
 Maintain a clean and organized environment for youth, while incorporating their involvement to
be used a training module for self-awareness and discipline.
 Act as liaison between parents, and staff regarding youth performance or behavior when
necessary.
 Perform related duties as assigned by Supportive Services Supervisor.

Qualifications:
 A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in the human services, social work, or related
field and demonstrated experience working collaboratively with low income families.
 Experience with service coordination in the Bayview Hunters Point, San Francisco area, or
another area with similar demographics.
 Bachelor’s Degree required.
 Bilingual (any of the following: Spanish, Samoan, Mandarin, Cantonese) preferred
 Ability to maintain accurate client files and impeccable documentation.
 Excellent written and oral communication skills.
 Strong organizational, detail oriented, and time management skills.
 Proven ability to work independently, effectively as an individual and part of the team (this
position’s supervisor is off site, requiring weekly supervision meetings.
 Excellent knowledge of computer systems.
 Willingness to be flexible with work schedule. Some evenings and weekends may be required.
