By: Qazi Ghulam Mustafa Through out the history of mankind, it has been observed that human beings, belonging to any race any community have worshiped God, despite of choices they have made for selecting their God. Some worship one True God, some bow down to fire and sun etc. In the very same manner, there has always been the concept of the presence of ‘SATAN’, who has been struggling to destroy the piece of the World and astray mankind from the path of God. His struggle of provoking starts since we take our first breath, due to which people involve in the sins and forget the righteous way told by The Creator of this World. Based on these realities, people have adopted idea that since they are sinful from the very early age so they are born in sin and they name the idea as ORIGINAL SIN. They further reason mankind have inherited sin from their parents Adam and Eve as they committed sin in the Heaven by eating from the tree which was forbidden by God. This story is told by our Christian brethren and they quote this from their holy book The Bible (Genesis 2:17). WHAT DO CHRISTIANS SAY Mr. Ginger Ketting – Weller in his “Why Jesus had to die” says that “death is the consequence of disobedience in God’s law”. He continues “if God had not thought ahead, He would have been on a very difficult spot ….. the consequence was sure, He (God) would lose these two beloved rebellious children of His – for eternity”. Hence God went through His alternate plan as Mr. Ginger claims that God said “I will take the consequence, I will pay the price”.
The question arises, if God took the consequence and paid the price, why He punished Adam and Eve then and why He sent them on Earth. Furthermore, we are told that God doer of all things and He has power over all things, couldn’t He just forgive His children for the mistake they make unintentionally. Our Christian brethren also boast that God is so loving, so caring and so forgiving. Yes He is, He is so forgiving that He was prepared to sacrifice ‘His own innocent son’ (as Christians say), but He was not prepared to forgive our parents who admitted their mistake and asked for forgiveness. Seems like Jesus was not sent to Earth because of the sin of Adam and Eve but God had them sin to kill ‘His son’ or may be God was helpless in that situation as Mr. Ginger says that “God cannot undo Universal law”. CAN GOD UNDO UNIVERSAL LAW ?? 1. When Moses escaped from Egypt with his people and came to the river, God helped Moses and commanded the water to give smooth dry path to Moses and Children of Israel and it did so. Moses and his people crossed the river without even having their cloths wet. However, universal law for water is to flow and to drown not to stand firm like mountains and give crossways. So, God broke His law to help Moses. We remember the story of Jonah, that God commanded him to go to Nenevah and he presumptuously went to Jopah. At sea there was a strike and he was thrown in the sea and a fish gobbled Jonah. Now, when a fish gobbles man, he has to die; you must agree!! That is a Universal Law. But when fish gobbled Jonah, God saved him, as we are told in the Book of Jonah (Bible). The fish took him round the ocean for three days and three nights (Book of Jonah) and vomited him Alive on the third day. Again God was very well able to undo His Universal Law to save his beloved Prophet, even after his rebellion and disobedience. Do you see any special difference between the disobedience of Adam and Jonah?????? These were only a few examples from the Bible but there are many more stories where God broke His own laws as and when He wanted. If He can undo His laws for His Prophets (who are sons of Adam), then why not for Adam?? It was much simpler to forgive Adam instead of scarifying “His innocent son”, except, He just wanted “His son” to be sacrificed. It is not the quality of God to be on difficult spot as Mr. Ginger says. THE STATEMENT OF PROOF THEY PRODUCE To support their idea of original sin and Jesus’ sacrifice they quote from their Holy Book:
1. “Then said Jesus, father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. (LUKE 23:34) Jews were not committing any sin while crucifying Jesus as it was not their choice at all, they were just fulfilling the Plan of God (as such they were helping God to get His plan completed). But Christian brethren believe that they committed sin by crucifying Jesus and as such they will all go to hell. However, God needed someone on the earth to execute His plan of killing “His innocent son” and His plan was to redeem mankind from the sin, yet He Himself involved Jews in the assassination of Jesus. If they have to go to hell, then what was the point of all this sacrifice? Seems like God failed in His plan. Besides, this statement is only quoted by Luke, whereas no other Gospel writer (Mathew, Mark and John) has ever heard these words of Jesus and Luke was not even the selected disciple of Jesus Christ. Furthermore, in the “New King James Version” (Copyright by Thomas Nelson Publishers in 1984) we are told that these words are “NOT IN THE ORIGINAL TEXT” of the Greek manuscripts of St. Luke. In other words these words have been fabricated by some other gentleman. 2. “It is expedient that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not” (JOHN 11:50) This is a statement of High Priest of Jews on account of having personal leadership / religious problems with Jesus, as Jesus was causing harm to his established position amongst Jews. Hence being scared of Jesus’ popularity among the ordinary men he was of the opinion that this man must die to save his fellowmen from the magic of this man. This statement does not support the idea of God’s plan, this statement might have meant something if this was uttered by disciples of Jesus, which is not the case now. We are in an amazing situation that God did not forget to inspire Mathew, Mark, Luke and John that “His son” rode donkey in Jerusalem but He
forgot to tell the contract between God and “His son”, the existence of original sin and ascension of Jesus. ASCENSION OF JESUS CHRIST The idea of original sin and sacrifice of Jesus is only supported by Mark and Luke. In the King James Version there are only two places where ascension of Jesus Christ is mentioned and the pen of Mathew and John had never touched the topic what so ever. The ascension of Jesus is mentioned in the references below: Mark 16:19 Luke 24-51 The King James Version was revised in 1952 by 32 scholars of highest eminence backed by 50 cooperative denominations and they produced Revised Standard Version and they told in its preface: “Yet King James Version has grave defects…. And these defects are so many and so serious as to call for a revision” (Preface, RSV) So they revised it. In that revision they threw out the verses of ascension mentioned by Mark and Luke as a fabrication. Amazing, the ascension was mentioned only twice in the 73 books of Roman Catholics and 66 books of Protestant Bible and that was deleted. In other words there is no ascension in the Bible. LAW OF GOD Every religion on the face of Earth say that God is Oft-Forgiving. You commit sin and repent; God will show His Grace and forgive. But Christianity in the only religion that came up with the idea of non-forgiving God as He was not able to forgive our parents and listen their repentance. Well this is just an idea of few people like Mr. Ginger, the law of God is totally different. As we are told that God has set the laws in the very beginning, likewise He had already fixed the law for the punishment of sinner and forgiveness of repenter. God says in the Book of Ezekiel:
“The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.” (EZEKIEL 18:20-21) These are only two verses which gives outline of God’s forgiveness and the law of punishment, but you need to read the complete chapter and believe me this will throw original sin out of your brain. This is common sense as well that how God can hold me responsible for the sin of Adam when they never asked me before eating that fruit. So Ezekiel 18:20 gives a vivid picture that no one accountable for others sins, in other words there is no original sin. TAKE YOUR CHOICE Islam rejects the idea of God being on difficult spot: “When He (Allah) hath decreed a plan, He but saith to it, 'Be,' and it is” (Al-Quran 3:47) “In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful” (Every chapter of Quran starts with this verse) "Indeed your Lord is the Doer of what He wills" (Al-Quran 11:107) "Allah wants ease for you and does not want difficulty for you." (Al-Quran 2:185) “Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Selfsubsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permits? He knows what (appears to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except
as He wills. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory).” (Al-Quran 2:255) Now take your choice, God of Quran, Who has power over all matters, Who is so merciful, and Who loves us so much or the God of Bible who stuck even on the forgiveness of a little mistake.
