Payroll Clerk
This position is responsible for the completion of NVE payroll and related reports.

The incumbent performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures, and
receives detailed instructions on new projects and assignments.

Team: Administrative Salary range: $15.25-$16.25 per hour

Reports to: Finance Director Schedule: 40/60 hrs per pay period
Salary Status: Non Exempt from Overtime

o Use electronic accounting system

o Gather, audit and input timesheets into the system
o Work with HR personnel on policy questions and employee updates
o Communicate with employees about changes to timesheets and other payroll questions
o Change approved employee information in the system as necessary
o Review all work for accuracy
o Review with finance director and make adjustments as necessary
o complete all payroll operations, file taxes and reports
o File all quarterly payroll reports
o Work with accounts payable for accurate accounting of 1099’s
o File year end W2’s and 1099’s
o Other administrative and accounting tasks as assigned

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

Excellent organizational skills. Attention to detail is of utmost importance. Must have excellent ability to
prioritize tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate well with employees and management. Good
attendance and work habits is mandatory. Must be proficient in basic math. Extensive knowledge of excel
and 10-key helpful.

Experience Requirement:
Two years payroll/accounting clerk experience preferred. Three years office experience preferred.

Education Requirements:
Highschool diploma or equivalent, training or experience in payroll/accounting preferred. Current Alaska
Driver’s license.
Performance standard
Regularly sit for long periods of time to complete tasks.
Regularly bend, crouch, stand, move about to complete work.
Typically lifts 15 lbs to coordinate work.
Regularly manipulate electronic data to gather, input and otherwise coordinate work.
Regularly use mental, oral and written methods to complete work.
Regularly use mathematical and linear thinking skills to provide accurate, literate work.

Environmental Factors
Work will be completed in an administrative office, Exposure to typical office equipment including copiers.
