Low-Noise, Low-Dropout,
150mA Linear Regulators in SOT23
_______________General Description ____________________________Features

MAX8867/MAX8868
The MAX8867/MAX8868 low-noise, low-dropout linear Low Output Noise: 30VRMS
regulators operate from a 2.5V to 6.5V input and deliver
up to 150mA. Typical output noise for these devices is Low 55mV Dropout at 50mA Output
just 30VRMS, and typical dropout is only 165mV at (165mV at 150mA output)
150mA. The output voltage is preset to voltages in the Low 85A No-Load Supply Current
range of 2.5V to 5.0V, in 100mV increments. The
MAX8867 and MAX8868 are pin-compatible with the Low 100A Operating Supply Current
MAX8863 and MAX8864, except for the BP pin. (Even In Dropout)
Designed with an internal P-channel MOSFET pass tran- Thermal-Overload and Short-Circuit Protection
sistor, the MAX8867/MAX8868 maintain a low 100A
supply current, independent of the load current and Reverse Battery Protection
dropout voltage. Other features include a 10nA logic- Output Current Limit
controlled shutdown mode, short-circuit and thermal-
shutdown protection, and reverse battery protection. Preset Output Voltages (1.4% Accuracy)
The MAX8868 also includes an auto-discharge function, 10nA Logic-Controlled Shutdown
which actively discharges the output voltage to ground
when the device is placed in shutdown. Both devices
come in regular and thin 5-pin SOT23 packages.
