Our Lord Iisus Hristos commanded us to constantly watch and pray. Trying to fulfill this commandment,

Christians from ancient times in a particularly memorable day made service, which lasted all night, from

dusk till dawn, and therefore was named all-night vigil . Its main parts - Great Vespers and Matins .

At the beginning of the great vespers commemorated the lives of our first parents, Adam and Eve in
Paradise. While in this beautiful place, enjoying the beauty and grandeur of Paradise world created by

God, our first parents brought their ecstatic prayer and thanksgiving to God. In that blissful time, people
talked with God face to face, as they were sinless. 1/16

The symbol of this is the open before the service King's Gate . In remembrance of the beginning of
God's creation of the world (when the Spirit of God, like incense smoke enveloped the pristine land, hath

quickened us together has not hosted the world), the priest incenses the altar , then, giving glory to the

Holy Trinity, comes out from the altar and incenses the temple that symbolizes the time when God
himself was close to the people. The choir sings selected poems 103rd psalm , depicting the majestic

view of the world and the praise of the Creator: "Bless my soul, Lord. Blessed art Thou, O Lord! .. Jako
vozvelichishasya are Thy works, O Lord, all the wisdom created the ecu ... . 2/16

God gave man the freedom that he freely chooses only the good. But people listened to envious and
deceitful devil's advice and refused to communicate with God. After that, people could not remain in

Paradise. God banished him from the Garden and placed on the impoverished and impoverished land.

However, Merciful Creator, in His ineffable love, encouraged by the promise of the Savior of man. It began
the sad history of mankind on the earth - the story of repentance, correction, a gradual return of the lost
children to their Father in Heaven. 3/16

The Church reminds us of these events further course of worship. Royal Doors are closed . Before them

as before mixing Paradise, the deacon pronounces the Great Litany (Litany - in Greek: diligence, diligent
prayer), which sought the help of God to sinful man in the various needs of his earthly life. After each

petition of the litany the choir sings from the person praying: "Lord, have mercy." Then the choir

sings selected verses from the 1st Kathisma (kathisma called parts into which divided the Psalter),

talking about the life of the righteous and the unrighteous: "Blessed is the man who hath not walked in the

counsel of the wicked ... and the way of the wicked will perish ... Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice He
trembling ... Blessed ecu hoping Nan ... " ( Ps 1., 1 , 6; 2, 11-12). 4/16

The Old Testament saints lived in hope of the promised Savior. Old Testament worship with his victims

was a reminder of God's promise, the prototype of the future great sacrifice, when He Himself the Son of

God , being God, become Man, will come to the people, to save them, and His righteous life, his victory
over death, His ascension to God the Father reconcile with God and become like the new Progenitor for

fallen humanity, wishing to regain communication with the Creator.

Continued Vigil says about these hopes. The choir sings the verses of the psalm, full of mournful cries:
"Lord, I cry unto thee, hearken unto me ..." ( Psalm 140. ). Incensing committed deacon at this time,
it means sacrifices were offered in the Old Testament, as well as our prayers to God. Psalms verses
beginning to alternate with stichera - chants, dedicated to the holiday. During the singing of the last verses

- dogma, speaking of the mystery of the Incarnation of the Savior, - clergymen with censer out of the
side doors and the altar through the royal doors are part of it . The output of the priest from the altar
symbolizes the descent to earth of the Son of God for the salvation of men, His preaching, voluntary

suffering, crucifixion and descent into hell, and the entrance to the altar - the resurrection and ascension
into heaven. 6/16

before God and a desire to open the gates of heaven, and the yearning of God for us.

At the end of the lithium choir sings a few stichera and prayer "Nunc Dimittis thy servant, O Lord ..."
( Prayer of St. Simeon). After the prayer "Our Father" Archangel greeting "Hail Mary, Hail" glorified the

Mother of God, or, in a special chant, celebrated the event. (The holidays is the consecration of bread,
wheat, wine and oil). Ends Vespers 33rd psalm and Priest blessing. Recent vespers prayers bring us to

blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord!" And a few selected verses of the 117th Psalm - and
the chorus repeats after each of them the first verse, announcing to us about the Savior phenomenon.

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth; and we beheld His glory, glory
as of the only begotten of the Father ( Jn. 1:14 ). Verses of the psalm , "unto the unto the Lord ..." uttered

during the singing of "God is the Lord ..." depict full of suffering earthly life of the Savior.

sepulcher at the rising of the sun, and they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from

the door of the sepulcher? And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was very
great. And entering into the sepulcher, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long

white garment; and they were amazed. He said to them, do not be dismayed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth,

who was crucified; He is risen, He is not here. Here is the place where they laid Him ( Mark 16:. 2-6 ).
