Dear Parents and Guardians,

This year in our geography unit the year one students are learning about places and the features of
places. We are focusing locations within the local community. Students have been working hard to
learn the knowledge and skills required to complete a geography inquiry. So to complete the
assessment piece of this unit students will have the opportunity to attend a field study to the park in
Sarina and the museum located in the field of dreams centre.

The field trip will be most of the day and will consist of the students spending some time in the park
identifying a feature of their chosen place with a couple of local experts to talk to the students and
provide some information on the place and their features. Also the field study will include a trip
through the museum to see what the place looked like in the past and how it has changes since the
time of the photos being taken. Students will be taking photos of their location for their assessment
piece then creating an information report in the weeks following the field study.

The cost of the field study is low and is going to be a total of $10.00 per student. This will cover the
cost of lunch and the entry fee to the museum. The P&C has kindly donated funds to pay half of the
students costs. So the total cost now to the students is only $5.00 each.

In order to ensure the safety of our students we also require three parent helpers to attend this field
study with us. The P&C will cover the costs of the parent helpers too.

Students will need to bring their hats and a water bottle. Students will eat morning tea at school
before attending the field study, so please provide your student with morning tea as normal.

Payment needs to be in full to the office before the 15th of August. To allow time for the school to
organise the lunch and entry to the museum. Lunch will be Pizza from Dominos. Please complete the
consent form attached below and return this to school with your payment.
