rohtolier linear parabolics oerform especially well in areas where
e-rergy ellectrveness and high-quality illumrnatron are orinp
conc"erns. tl^ey loo|. clea'r. iahe up less ceiling space, and
augment interior designs.
Lightolier linear parabolic louver fixtures are built around compact optical
systems that effectively utilize linear Iluorescent lamps. These opticaL
systems combine deep side refLectors with conloured cross baffles to
produce a distinctive batwing light distribulion, allowing w de spacing of
fixtures, freedom from high-angle glare, and strong side lighting.
With its superior optical system, the Lightolier linear parabolic can be
spaced to provide even, general lighting at less than one watt per square
foot. This flexibility is especially important for open office areas, stores,
and clrculation spaces. By contrast, conventional three- or four-lamp
2 x 4 troffers produce uneven illumination at low power densities,
especially where partition systems are used.
For task lighting applicatlons, linear parabolics again outperform 2 x 4
trojJers. The batwinq light distribution can be directed to produce high
quality illumination by llghting the work surface from the side. lmportantly,
the linear parabolic controls glare better than larger parabolics or Lens
f ixtures and so improves light ng for compuler applicat ons.

HVP 1 x 4 SLis a 12" x 48" fixture that delivers high visual
performance. lts stacked /amp design (one over the other) permits
half-level swilching with no visible change ln fixture appearance.
HVP 1 x 4 SL fits all contemporary ceilings with crisp trim detail and
performs all ai.handling functions.
For the best in energy-eflective, visually comlortable lighting, we
recommend the HVP 1 x 4 SL.
ParaL\ie 848\s an economical and compact 8" x 48" fixlure designed
for use in exposed IBar ceilings. Paraly'te requires no modification to
lhe conventional 2 x 4 grid ceiling module and installs easily; its narrow
width presents a distinctive appearance.
For quality lighting with a modest budget, ParaLyte is the preferred
alternative to 2 x 4 fixtures.
Central Trough Syslem or CIS is a system of continuous lighted
elements, 8" ot 12" wide. Unique construction allows standard
modules of CTS to span any length without visible inlerruption, turn
corners, and Iorm patterns.
With its custom, built-in look, CTS is a logical choice where lighling is
intended to make a prominent visual statement.

within the space, while enhancing visibility and comfort.
Although many types of f ixtures-including Lightolier's linear
parabolics-can serve as perlmeter lighting, Lighlolier's Perimeter
Trough System (PTS) is especially designed for the task. The trough
occupies the wall/ceiling intersection, where it appears to "float" the
ceiling plane. N4odular construction allows uninterrupted, shadowless
lines ol light lo run fully wall{o-wall. Lamps are located out of normal
viewing angles and batfled for complete glare control. For a completely
coordinated design, combine CTS and PTS to achieve matching general
and perimeter illumination.

Modular Parabolic Louvers... Fii Many Tasks
odular paraboLics are designed for modu ar ce I ng systems
and serve as the general I ghting system for numerous stores
and workspaces. They are compatible with all contemporary
ceilings and accommodate all air-handling functions. Lighto er offers
three families of modular parabolics, each with distinctive performance
characteristics.
. Lytecel s an ultra'low brightness fixture that practica ]y disappears
from view in the ceiling. lt s the least conspicuous approach to genera
store ighting and is the best recessed f xture for use wlth large
Local Task Lighting numbers oi computers.
Lytecel {eatures an injection-molded acrylic louver with 11/2" square
parabolic cells. A special optical finish assures visual comfort and
improves maintenance. The louver is self-flanged, with no cut cells to
creaie disturbing light leaks at the edges. While other products can be
f tted with molded louvers, only Lightolier Lytecel is deslgned expressly
Ior this pu rpose.
Modular HVP fixlutes employ 4" deep aluminum louvers for optimum
glare control. Lightolier's louvers are properly contoured to shield the
lamp, lamp image, and glary white interior surfaces.
HVP is built around a clean luminous cavity, whlch allows two,
three, or four lamps to be used in the 2 x 4 model without
chanaino fixture appearance. Ihe 2 x 2 model can use three
compacf fluorescent (T-B or "twin tube" lamps to create high light
output f rom a sma l, non-directional f ixture. With this f lexiblility, the
lighting system can generate just the amount of light-and
consume only the amount of energy-needed for the particular
applicatlon. 0
Deepcel is Lightolier's h ghly competitive parabo c troffer lts 3" deep
louver combines with contoured upper reflectors to form an efflcient
optical assembly. Louvers are properly contoured to eliminate "lamp

Sott Lighting... For People Spaces
ightolier's soft lighting fixtures create a special kind of diffused
light that people lind quite pleasing. lt has some directlonality for
rendering form and texture but no vislble lamps to cause glare
The regressed, uniformly whiie diffusers signal the presence of lighl and
articulate the ceiling plane.
Solt llghting is "lighting for people spacesl' lt spreads light broadly'
especially onto adjacent walls. lt creates a brlght airy feeling, much like a
skylight. N,4any people find this effect more comfortable than installations
that leave walls and ceilings dark.
Soft lighting also permits a direct view of the f ixture without harsh glare
from bare fluorescent lamps (as when people lean back in their chairs
and look upward). Lightolier's soft lighting fixtures work so well because
deep fixture housings and carelully integrated baflles eliminate
distracting lamp streaks on the diffusers.
Lightolier offers three approaches to soft lightlng, each wilh a distinctive
style:
. L\temodules arc attractive 2 x 2 and 2 x 4 luminous panels designed
ior grid ceilings. Choose deep, artlculated coffers or shallow louvered
designs in white or warm oak. The panels can be placed indlvjdually or
ganged to form a luminous ceiling.
. SryLiSht, in sizesfrom 1x4Ia4x4, stheoriginal soft lighting fixture.
It features an expanse of pure white diffuser held by a 2" deep splay of
heavy-gauge extruded aluminum; the knife-edge trims can be butted to
form mullions in a simulated skylight of any size.
. Raund Dome incorporates a concave diffuser in two or four foot
diameters. The uniformly white difluser appears to float above the
ceiling plane. lt is a visual tour de force.
Northen-Lyte, a sloped coffer Lytemodule,
aniculates the ceiling plane and prcvides local

igh efficiency Deepcel is ideal for office and retail spaces where
high ight levels are desired and max mum glare control is not
required. Contoured upper reflectors fjnished in hlgh-reflectance
white combine with properly shaped, semi-specular aluminum louvers to
produce an efflcient optical assembly. The vertical grain aluminum louver
disperses lght evenly, eliminating amp images. Choice of 5" or 7" square
cel sizes and conligurations of 9, 12, 16, 1B or 32 cells. An ultra-shallow,
one-piece housing is designed to fit today's limited pLenum depths, can be
lnstal ed in all contemporary ceiling systems. Deepcel may be used for
air supply or return and heat extraction. All air handling functions are
concealed by the black reveal, giving the fixture a crisp, clean look.

Deepce and Lytecel louvers are interchangeabie in the field.

LYTEMODULES

ytemodules combine style and functlon to create apparently
"custom" installations. Softly luminous panels give the lluslon of a
sky ight, can be insta led individually or ganged to form space-
expanding canopies of ight. Finely crafted genuine oak veneer or white
vinyl-c ad f rames fit modular T-Bar grid ceilings. Distinctive, lour-sided
shadow-edge reveals articulate the ceiling plane. Unlque rubber gaskets
on two sides of lightshield ellminate light leaks.

Complete fixture consists of electrical chassis and lightsh e d, each must
be ordered separately. The chass s features an extra wide, hlgh
reflectance white ref ector which llghts evenly with two or four amps.
Easy to nstall, the chassis clamps onto the T-Bar and can be ralsed and
tilted to place lamps at the proper height above the ightshle d.
Lytemodule lightshields can also be used with conventional strip lights.
