Toddler Activity Pre-Plan: Part Two

1. What concepts or skills are the toddlers exploring or practicing as they participate in your activities today and where will they explore them? What
TTD Chapter are you referencing?
TTD 5- This week’s plan focuses on giving the toddlers opportunities to explore and discover as they play and observe. The toddlers will be able to
practice discovering in the cause and effect area as they open eggs with different objects in them; in the fine motor area they will place stickers on
paper; at the sensory table they will dig in the sand with cars; and at the art area they will stamp with paint. These activities will help them to discover
cause and effect in all areas of play.
2. What would you like me to specifically observe about your teaching/guidance skills during your lead teaching day?
Danielson D2/E, “I lead the routines of the classroom independently and confidently.”
I know that I need to work on appearing more confident in my lesson plan so I plan on really focusing on taking the lead and being independent.
3. Briefly describe your planning for the 12 toddlers in your lab in the chart below and how you anticipate them exploring and practicing their goal as
they participate in the activities you have planned. Remember to talk to your teaching team before you begin this, so that you are not planning
duplicate activities each week. 

planned
IELG Outcome: D1 G10 CI1 16 to 38 Months: Imitates a single action from a finger play or dance movement. for in this
activity
The skills this activity promotes: This activity promotes fine motor skills as the toddler imitates basic hand movements. Toddlers will also work Aaron
on memorization skills as they learn the song. Taysom

Activity Description: The children will sing the song Baby Fish while learning the actions and using props.

Adaptations for individual toddlers: Use sign language with Aaron by signing fish in order to help him to participate more.

Teacher Script
Introduction Script (What will you say and do to get their attention and introduce the activity?): ?): “Today we are going to sing our Baby
Fish song about a family of fish.”

Expectations for children (What will you say and do to show the children how to participate in the activity?): We are going to practice doing
all of the hand movements for the baby fish song. For the baby fish place your wrists together and move your hands up and down. For the
mommy fish do this a little bigger. For the daddy fish do this really big make sure you are going up and down and not side to side. Then for
giant whale we will take our arms and go side to side as wide as we can then back together. (Demonstrate each movement and show them the
corresponding picture that goes on the poster board)

Handing out props (how will you hand out props): The teachers will take a few bracelets and make sure each of the child has one by helping
them place it on their wrists or holding on to it.
There will also be a prop in the front of the group that is a poster that has the 4 different fish as another visual form as we go through the song

During the activity (What are you saying and doing during the activity for the children to model?): During the activity we will use the cd. We
will be singing the song and doing the actions. I will also have a poster board that I will reference during the song to help toddlers remember
what is coming next.
Closing Script (What will you say and do to end the activity and transition to the next thing?): I had so much fun singing about our fish
family. Now it is time to say goodbye to our fish, let’s give our bracelets back to our teachers. Let’s get ready to go outside,
or
Now it is time to listen to Ms. Amanda.

Collecting props (how will you collect the props?)
Prompt the toddlers to give their bracelets back to a teacher, the teacher can then place them in the zip-lock bag.
