Note: This procedure is for obtaining the difference in temperature through the oven drying space. It is not
intended for use for actual temperature determination.

2 Method
2.1 Ensure the oven is empty. Place the eight thermocouples immersed in tins of dry clean silica sand at
approximately equal spacing throughout the oven drying space including the centre.
2.2 Close the door, turn on the oven, and allow to heat up to its approximate normal working
temperature for a minimum two hours.
2.3 At hourly intervals, record the indicated temperature of each oven. Repeat this until six sets of
readings have been obtained.
