Peace Corps Response positions are open to returned Volunteers or U.S. citizens with
significant professional and technical experience.

Project Description
A Peace Corps Response Volunteer is needed to serve as a Curriculum Development Specialist
for Information and Communication Technology for Ifugao State University. The Bachelor of
Science in Information Technology (BSIT) program is a fairly new program that started in 2007
and has gone through three revisions in the last five years. The most recent revision was done
in 2013. With the upcoming academic integration of Association of Southeast Asian Nations
(ASEAN), there is a need to ensure that learners are maintaining global competitiveness. This
can only be realized if its curriculum and learning facilities are in accordance to global and
industry-based standards.

A Curriculum Development Specialist with at least 2 years of experience in the IT industry and
knowledge in the areas of software development, JAVA, database management and
networking is needed to help update the current best practices and curriculum of that the
university is implementing. The Curriculum Development Specialist will review the current
curriculum of IFSUs BSIT program as well as observe other ICT schools in the area to see what
best practices can be pulled from to design modernize the current curriculum and training
modules. With this new curriculum the Peace Corps Response Volunteer will conduct
workshops to faculty and staff on how best to teach the new training modules. The Peace
Corps Response Volunteer will also design and assist in the implementation of a centralized
network of laboratories. The goal of this assignment is to provide guidance in the
advancement of the BSIT curriculum and training on ICT instruction with the faculty.

Masters degree in Computer Science or Information Technology
Two years of experience in the IT industry and related training activities
Two years of experience in a University setting
Computer network training
Technical knowledge in the areas of software development, JAVA, database management,
and networking

Philippines may not be able to support Volunteers with the following medical conditions:
insulin-dependent diabetes.

The following medication(s) are not permitted for legal or cultural reasons: Adderall, Ritalin
and Vyvanse.

Volunteers who should avoid the following food(s) may not be able to serve: gluten,
peanuts, and shellfish.

After arrival in Philippines, Peace Corps provides and applicants are required to have an
annual flu shot, to take daily or weekly medication to prevent malaria, and to receive
mandatory immunizations.
