Project Description
A Marketing Specialist with a bachelors degree in marketing, advanced Spanish and
experience in organizing marketing systems is needed to help coordinate marketing activities
for the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA). For several years now, the Directorate of
Rural Development has been establishing family gardens and small businesses with producers
from rural areas throughout the country. Therefore, it is necessary to design more secure and
permanent marketing mechanisms that allow these farmers to earn a sustainable income and
this can affect the improvement of their living conditions.
The Response Volunteer will: 1. Work with MIDA to design and implement a plan for the proper
coordination and organization of marketing activities, 2.Work with MIDA to coordinate and
organize activities with potential buyers of supermarket chains and distributors of agricultural
products, and 3. Design a training plan for MIDA staff and small producers in marketing and
commercialization strategies. With the support of a PCRV, MIDA hopes to strengthen existing
marketing abilities of the Directorate of Rural Development and Panamanian farmers; to
implement an effective operating system to thus ensure quality production and to market their
products.
