As a T H Hill QA/QC Project Manager, I was made responsible for the tool qualification program for Cimarex Energy
and their 22 drilling rigs in West Texas and Oklahoma. My predecessor failed to update them on critical field
discoveries or provide timely/actionable activity summaries. I promised immediate action, and delivered on my
promise. In less than one quarter, my rapid, accurate communication and pin-point data analysis saved them over
$600,000 in mitigated specialty tool discrepancies. I also implemented a program limiting drill pipe connection
repairs that will save a yearly average of $500,000. A Cimarex executive later informed me that, because of my
performance, they did not cancel our contract.

During the 2014 oil price crash, T H Hill maintained our business relationship with RKI Exploration and Production
due to the strong rapport I had established with them as QA/QC Project Manager. I earned the reputation of a cost-
saving troubleshooter when I implemented casing inspection standards that mitigated recurring mechanical failure
problems that had cost them over $1,000,000 the year before.

As RKI lowered their rig count to just one rig in Wyoming, I designed a support plan that conveyed the criticality of
keeping a dedicated T H Hill technician in place to help reduce costs associated to non-productive time caused by
failed or dysfunctional oil tools. This support plan helped RKI executives appreciate the value of our services,
enabling our company to net an additional $100,000 in revenue at a time where we had already lost many
important customers due to the bust. At a financially critical time, I was credited with validating the value of
maintaining discretionary services like QA/QC support.


As a U.S. Army First Lieutenant and Physical Security Officer in Afghanistan, we occupied FOB Shindand, an
abandoned, run-down air base that was extremely vulnerable to attack by Taliban forces. Knowing an attack was
coming, I analyzed the bases most vulnerable areas, as well as enemy capabilities, terrain, and our most likely
courses of action if they attacked our base. My Task Force Commander immediately forwarded my analysis to the
Base Commander, who immediately secured millions of dollars to upgrade base security. Today, the base is heavily
fortified and the Taliban continues to avoid it. Im proud that my threat analysis helped highlight critical
shortcomings in the security of our base and saved lives.

While researching baseball statistics has always been a hobby, I began profiting from it in 2012. The best pitcher on
the Oakland Athletics started the season with three consecutive losses and wanted a pair of fresh eyes to analyze his
opposing batters. He hired me, and I performed a comprehensive batter analysis to exploit the weaknesses of
upcoming opponents. The positive results were instantaneous. Within weeks, he delivered dominating
performances against two division leaders, including the reigning league champions, and went on to finish the
season as one of the top pitchers in the American League. His team went on to win the division title by just one
game, and I contributed to their success.

As an undergraduate majoring in Business Administration, I was also a student assistant on our baseball team. We
finished that season in the bottom 25% of our conference in batting and runs scored. Applying my statistics and
data analysis ability, I took personal initiative to analyze and help solve our hitting issues. By statistically comparing
our performance to that of baseballs best batters, I consolidated the baseline data and created a point system
competition among our players to maximize quality at-bats, and ultimately an increase in runs. The coaches and
players loved the competition and called it the Keshel Cup. Applying their competitive spirit, the Ole Miss Rebels
finished the next season in the top 25% of the conference in batting average, home runs, and runs and advanced to
within one game of the 2005 College World Series. I know that the Keshel Cup was instrumental in igniting our
offensive outburst.


While a green First Lieutenant in Afghanistan, I led a three-man Intelligence Section. This was a position normally
assigned to an experienced Captain, but he remained stateside for four months at the beginning of the deployment.
In addition to being without an experienced leader, my section was at less than 50% strength, with typical manning
at eight soldiers. All of that notwithstanding, we were still expected to get the job done. My first challenge was to
establish 24/7 intelligence support for Aviation operations covering an area the size of Georgia. Working tirelessly
for weeks with my undermanned staff, I perfected a template consisting of classified significant activities,
intelligence, and provincial outlooks. By the time my boss returned, my analysis template had become the most-
widely disseminated, trusted, and referenced Intelligence Summary in our area. After this experience, when there is
absolutely no room for error, I trust myself to learn a job on the fly and succeed.

While serving as intelligence officer Fort Wainwright, Alaska, I supervised a Second Lieutenant (John) who was of
Ukrainian ancestry, spoke fluent Russian, and had an exceptional knowledge of all things Russian and Soviet. Due to
prior misconduct and a failed physical fitness test, Squadron officers ostracized him and his career was in decline.
Seeking to help him salvage it by playing to his strengths, I launched a weekly training series to highlight the most
damaging historical mistakes the Soviets made during their occupation of Afghanistan. I designated John to prepare
the brief and present it to the Squadron, including senior officers. He gave an outstanding brief that impressed our
Squadron commander, who gave a strong report to the Brigade headquarters. John was subsequently appointed
the Brigades security manager, reigniting his career.

At the Military Intelligence Captains Career Course at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, I was selected as the class Physical
Training Officer. My responsibility was clear: 100% of students must pass the physical fitness test - but the fact that
students had just two weeks to adapt to the mile-high altitude made it difficult. I quickly devised a training plan that
required extensive distance and hill running right up until test day, which made me quite unpopular. However, they
forgave me when everyone passed on the first try. As an additional duty and added bonus, I was the liaison to a
guest German Army detachment training with us. After we completed our training, we were permitted to compete
for their coveted German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge, which I had earned in 2009. I devised custom training
plans for my troops to compete with them, and fifteen of my classmates won the badge.

While a First Lieutenant deployed to Afghanistan, I was responsible for briefing intelligence to aircrews for
reconnaissance, security, supply, transportation, and Air Assault missions. Special Operations Forces in our area had
been taking heavy enemy fire and sustaining casualties after Air Assault insertions, which also posed a significant risk
to our aircrews. My research showed that enemy fighters were concealing themselves from Apache gunship
detection by hiding their heat signatures under trees near riverbanks. For our next Air Assault, I briefed our aircrews
on this tactic and gave coordinates for several positions where I expected the enemy to hide. Our gunships located
fighters just where I said they would be and eliminated 12 of them. We suffered no casualties and were able to
capture a High Value Target a 100% successful mission. With this outcome, I solidified my reputation as a
trusted analyst and officer.

While an Army ROTC cadet at Ole Miss, I encouraged my fellow cadets to volunteer in the local community. I
established a relationship with the director of the Mississippi State Veterans Home and organized weekly visits to
the Home. I always brought at least six cadets. We played a lot of Bingo and spent a lot of time sincerely talking
with and learning from these Officer and Enlisted living legends of WWII and the wars in Korea and Vietnam. We
were gratified when they began asking for us by name, so I also arranged special visits for holidays. As idealistic
cadets, we felt we were helping them, but in retrospect, we got the best of the deal. Our self-confidence was
tempered by the humility that comes from volunteering and learning from others, and through that experience we
got both a glimpse and a feeling of who we were, and who we could be in the Army and in the world.

In my final year as an Army ROTC cadet, I attended a mandatory leadership course at Fort Lewis, Washington. A
graduation requirement was completing the Combat Water Survival Test (CWST), a series of events to ensure
drown-proofing. Being a strong swimmer, I had no trouble with the event; however, four of my classmates were
unable to pass the test, and would not be commissioned. I volunteered my spare time to help train them for this
event, and they all reluctantly accepted. Initial training brought occasional panic, but within weeks, all four could
confidently swim the length of the pool in full uniform and successfully completed all course requirements and
subsequently received their commissions something that likely wouldnt have happened if I had not volunteered
to coach them.
