IA4432 Errata

Applicable to : Product Part Number : IA4432 Product revision #: X2 Errata release revision #: X2.4 Problem Description: Work Around
Interrupts must be read before entering standby modes. Setting the TX Power (Register 6Dh) settings to 00 will reduce current to 2.7µA then setting endigpwdn=0 (Register 65h) will further reduce current to 1.7µA. A further digital block modification in the next silicon release will allow for further current reduction in this mode. No current software or PCB workaround. This issue will be corrected in the next silicon release. No current software or PCB workaround. This issue will be corrected in the next silicon release. No current software or PCB workaround. This issue will be corrected in the next silicon release. No current software or PCB workaround. This issue will be corrected in the next silicon release. No current software or PCB workaround. This issue will be corrected in the next silicon release.

1

Standby Current is 1.7µA

2

Tune current is 10mA

3

Rx current is 19mA

4

Tx Output power only at 17.5dBm

IA4432 Errata
This has been diagnosed an issue with the reference design board where RF coupling occurs back to the XTAL. Boards should be designed to isolate the XTAL from the VDD and the RF. Until a new reference design is provided avoid using these frequencies. This issue is currently screened during test as such customer will not receive these parts. The issue has also been resolved and will be fixed in the next silicon revision This issue has been diagnosed as a result of using the the ADC encoder with the IF supply and by placing the VR_IF pin such that it is adjacent to the RX input. This will be resolved in the next silicon revision. In the interim avoid using these channels. This is diagnosed as a small bug in the internal digital. As an interim fix; enter RX mode from either Ready mode, TX, or by temporarily adjusting the frequency setting in RX which will place the chip back into Tune mode, then, change freq and then return to RX mode. The temp sensor ADC needs the 32kHz RC or XTAL which is by default not enabled. Enable the wake-up-timer (enwt) so that the 32kHz RC is enabled and temp sensor will operate correctly. This is a simple controller bug which will be fixed for next tapeout.

7

Sampling Spurs which occur within ± 100kHz of a frequency which is a multiple of 10MHz. For example, 900MHz± 100kHz, 910MHz± 100kHz, etc.

8

On a small percentage of die, the synthesizer does not lock at some specific frequencies

9

10M/30M Desense. When on a channel with a multiple of 5M, 10M, or 30M sensitivity, selectivity is degraded by as much as 20dB.

10

Can't enter Rx mode from tune mode

11

Digital readout of the Temp Sensor (TS) does not work as specified in datasheet.

12

RX bit clock pulse is very narrow and syncronized with the data on the same edge. This makes it very difficult to to use the RX data clock for BER measurements.

Use external RX bit clock to sample data for BER.

IA4432 Errata
Recalibrate or choose a different frequency. The cause is due to a digital control issue. This issue is resolved and will be corrected in the next release of silicon. Some modifications are needed by the Crgain register based on the desired datarate. IAI technical support can assist with new modem settings table. This issue is understood and will be corrected in the next silicon revision. RX and TX systems need to be accurately adjusted with the crystal oscillator cap bank or frequency offset register. The failure is caused by an algorithm problem. The AFC can be tested by switching the high band select bit and receiving on the image. In this mode the AFC has been verified to operate correctly. This will be corrected in the next silicon release. Timing bug creates a poor ramp. This will be resolved in the next silicon release Will be available in next version

13

VCO Calibration may generate (albeit rarely) an invalid value

14

Preamble length needs to be 4Bytes with AFC disabled

15

AFC does not function properly

Spectral splatter on OOK modulation when PA enabled RX OOK not implemented in the X2 revision
