The Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI) has been established
as an approach to strengthen the provision of comprehensive and essential health
package to the children.
½ It is an action-oriented classification.
½ It is used by health professionals who see sick infants and children (1 week ± 5
years old).
½ It is a relevant process for a first-level facility such as a clinic, health center and
OPD (Out-Patient Department) of a hospital.
