Governor Sandoval,
I am writing to express my interest in representing District G on the Clark County Commission to fulfill the remainder of Mary Beth Scow’s term now that she has resigned as of June 30, 2017. After graduating from high school in Belen, New Mexico, I made a decision to go into air conditioning and refrigeration and moved to Las Vegas immediately after completing my training and earning my degree. For almost 25 years, I have watched the growth and changes of Clark County as it grew during the boom and then declined somewhat during the recession. During much of my time here, I have lived in District G and have worked closely with Commissioner Scow on constituent concerns and community projects. I have worked side by side with the Commissioner picking up trash and painting over graffiti and have enjoyed a productive working relationship with her. I appreciate all of her hard work and dedication to improving the quality of life for all those who live, work and recreate in District G. Before I made the decision to run for the State Assembly in 2010, I was first appointed to the Whitney Town Board by the Clark County Commission where I first came to understand the importance of not just hearing constituent concerns, but working toward consensus to find solutions. Whether it was while I was serving on the Town Board or since being elected to represent Assembly District 18 in 2010, I have worked tirelessly toward the benefit of not just my constituents, but for the benefit of all of the citizens of Clark County and the State; Whether that benefit came from voting in favor of bringing Tesla to Northern Nevada, Faraday Future and the Raiders to Southern Nevada, or having thoughtful discourse on any number of other critical bills that were brought forward during the seven years that I have served. I have also fostered relationships with many elected state and local leaders and have reached across the aisle to listen to all points of view in order to work in a bipartisan fashion to make a difference in the lives of Nevadans. I truly believe that taking responsibility and working collaboratively is the only sure way to improve the quality of life for all of us.
