PC DRIVERS GUIDE

EXAMPLE AND GUIDE DONE USING THE WINDOWS 10 OPERATING SYSTEM

HOW TO UNINSTALL

When setting up a new or old pc you may come across corrupted software and hardware
drivers, this can affect the usability of the computer system significantly.

For this guide, I will be showing how to uninstall the display driver.

1. To begin with, you first want to navigate to your device manager, this can be done
easily by opening the program interface. This is located in the bottom left of the
screen (the icon that resembles the windows
logo, 4 squares) this can be seen in the beside
image, showing the button to click on, on the
home screen.

This image shows the correct

application to launch when wanting
to view and change drivers

2. To make it easier to locate the device

manager. By simply typing in device, the
application search should locate it instantly.
An example of searching for the device
manager can be seen.

This image shows a simplistic way

to search for the required
application, available in windows
10.

3. Once the device manager

application has opened you will be
presented with a small window
open that should look similar to
what is shown, this will show the
different types of drivers currently
being used by the pc system.

This image shows what the

device manager application
should look like (yours may
differ from this image)

4. After opening the device

manager, navigate over to the
small drop for the display drivers,
located towards the top with a
small screen icon, there you will
be able to see the various drivers
or driver being used for your
display, this may look similar to
what is shown, but may not be
exactly the same due to different
hardware requiring specific
drivers.

This image shows a display

adapter has been selected.

CONSOLE TO DISPLAY PLAYSTATION 4

This guide can be used to show you how to connect a graphical display to a gaming
platform, in this case a console to display will be done. This demonstration will be
using the PS4 to connect to a monitor to be used as its graphical display.

1. To begin with you will want to choose your connection that you will be using
to output the graphics. In this case I will be using a HDMI to HDMI cable.

This image shows the cable that is required to

connect the console to the screen, this cable is a
HDMI to HDMI cable, which will allow for HD (high
definition) video

2. On the back-side of the console, you need to identify the correct port at which to insert the cable into. But
with the PS4 there is two HDMI ports, so you need to use the one that has output written on.

This image shows the required port/connection for

this device. For the PS4 it is a HDMI cable that is
required to connect the console to the display

3. Once identify insert the cable into the PS4 and turn on both the
monitor/screen and the console itself.

4. To identify whether this was successful, the screen should be able

to output/display the PS4 menu home screen showing that you
have successfully connected the screen

This image shows that the connected This image, supports that the cable is
video input/ouput is functioning able to connect to the PS4 through the
properly port on the backside of the console

CONNECTING A WIRLESS DEVICE WIRELESS MOUSE TO PC

This guide will be used to demonstrate how to connect a wireless mouse to the pc platform.

1. To begin with you want to identify the port in which the wireless receiver will be plugged into, in this
case it is a usb port, this is the common port that is used for most devices similar to this mouse (see
image below for help identifying the USB port)

This image shows the required

connection used by/for this
device. In this case it is a USB
2.0 compatible device.

2. Once this port has been found, align the small wireless receiver and ensure that it is
rotated the right way so it is able to be inserted into the PC (see below for help).

This image shows the

correct connector for the
USB device being
inserted.

3. (Make sure the mouse is turned on before continuing) After the receiver has been
inserted into the port the mouse should be connected, when turned (depending on
the type of mouse, in this case a Logitech gaming mouse) on the mouse should glow
with a variety of colours and be able move the cursor, relative to the movement of
the mouse.

WIRELESS CONTROLLER XBOX ONE

This guide will show how to sync and connect a wireless controller to a gaming platform, in this demonstration
the Xbox One will be used to connect a wireless controller to the
console.

1. To begin ensure that the Xbox is not synced to another

controller, you want this one to be you main one. Turn on
the Xbox One until you are at the home screen.

This image shows the top of the Xbox

One controller, where the wireless
connection button is located.

2. Now turn on the controller. Once on the light on the

controller will be flashing, this means that it is not
currently connected to any console/device. On top of
the controller there is a button with a wireless
reference.

3. There is also a wireless link button on the side of the console,

you want to press and hold both of these for around 5 seconds.

This image shows the connection button

on the Xbox One, this will allow for the
console to search for new controller to
connect with.

4. Once connected the light on the controller will be lit up showing

that the controller is connected to a console.

WIRED DEVICE WIRED CONTROLLER

This guide will be used to show how to connect a wired device to the PC platform through the use of a usb
cable, the controller being used is an Xbox One controller, attached to a usb connecter allowing for the
controller to become wired.

1. To begin, this user guide will be using an Xbox One

controller connected through a micro usb to usb 2.0 cable.

2. To begin with, you need to identify the correct port for the controller, this is a USB 2.0 cable and
therefore will only work with the USB 2.0 port. Once the
correct port has been identified, as seen in the image
below.

This image shows the required

connection used by this device.
In this case it is a USB 2.0
connection/port required.

3. Once the port and the cable connector has been identified,
insert the cable connector into the port, ensuring that it is
correctly orientated so it is able to connect properly.

This image shows the required

connection used by/for this
device. In this case it is a USB 2.0
compatible device.

This image shows the correct

connector for the USB 2.0 device
being inserted. If inserted
correctly the connector should
insert smoothly. If incorrectly
aligned the usb will not be able
to be inserted.

4. once connected, depending on the operating system (windows 7 up to 10), will automatically
install the required drivers for the device to work properly. With this controller, you can tell if its
connected due to the lights on the controller.

This image is used as an example

of how the controller should
look when properly connected.

WIRED DEVICE - MOUSE

This guide will show you how to connect a wired mouse to a pc gaming platform.

1. To begin with you must first identify what type of

connection the USB requires, in this case is a usb 2.0

This image shows the required

connection used by this device.
In this case it is a USB 2.0
connection/port required.

2. Locate the viable port on the pc, in this case mine states
that the ports are usb 2.0, orientate the usb so it is able to
go into the port successfully

This image shows the correct

connector for the USB 2.0 device
being inserted. If inserted
correctly the connector should
insert smoothly. If incorrectly
aligned the usb will not be able
to be inserted.

3. Once in, the mouse should be able to move the cursor

on the screen relative to its movement. Or in this case
light up.

This image is used to show how

the device, the mouse, should
look like. In this case the mouse
has a light to show its been
connected and has power.
