STEWARDSHIP: Called to be Prayerful: Stewardship a Way
of Life; John 14:13 “Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it.” Prayer should be, for Christians, a way of life. We should “take it with us” throughout our day, an on-going contact with our Creator. Jesus said, “I will be with you always, even until the end of the age.” If Christ were sitting next to you now, what would you say? Would you ignore Him? He is here, we need only to reach out. “Avoid greed in all its forms. A man may be wealthy, but his possessions do not guarantee him life.” Luke 12:15 In the realm of faith, material possessions are a false security.
Our Stewardship of Treasure for 7/25/10 amounted to $6,294.00 / Our Children’s Collection = $12.00 Please remember to place Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in your Will. Those who generously did this in the past have helped us to stay out of a heavy debt. August 8, 2010 QUESTIONS ON THE ROMAN MISSAL, THIRD EDITION - PART 3 What will the process of implementation look like? Once the recognition is granted, final preparation and publication of the missal will commence. At that time, catechesis on the new translation and on the Liturgy itself will become even more important. Training for priest, music ministers, and other liturgical leaders (liturgy committees and liturgical commissions), as well as formation for all Catholics, will help to ensure the successful implementation of the new text. What will the new Missal mean in my parish? In the months before the revised translation is implemented, parishes will have to do many things. The parish will have to replace liturgical books and participation aids. Priests will practice proclaiming the new texts and will prepare homilies helping the faithful to understand the new translation and to deepen their appreciation for the Liturgy. The music ministers and the people will learn new musical settings of the parts of Mass (such as the Gloria and the Sanctus). Catechists and teachers will help parishioners learn the new prayers. Parishes may also use this opportunity to undertake a thorough reexamination of their liturgical practices.

MONTHLY MEMORIAL MASS - Our next monthly Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, August 28th at 8:30 am. As you may remember, we will have a Memorial Mass each month. This will be offered in an effort to accommodate anyone who desired a specific date in the month but was unable to obtain the same. The offering for this remembrance will be $5.00. All names will be listed in the Bulletin. Gift Bearer at Mass - If you would like to be the gift bearer at Mass, please let one of the ushers know. We encourage the family members of the person for whom the Mass is intended to act as gift bearer. HOW SHOULD WE DRESS FOR MASS? People generally have no real problem wearing proper clothing when entering places that demand such attire. Would you ever consider attending a formal dinner or a wedding dressed in a tee shirt and shorts, or a tank top and swimming trunks? Each Sunday the Lord invites us to His House. Are you dressed properly for this important Sacred Sacrificial Meal? 1. On July 23rd, Gov. Christie vetoed a bill sponsored by proabortion legislators to restore $7.4 million dollars for Planned Parenthood Centers. Every single one of these centers counsel and refer women for abortions; 3 of the centers actually perform the abortions. Up to now, these abortions have been paid with YOUR tax dollars! The fight still goes on. Pro-abortion legislators will attempt an override of Christie's veto. Please call the following NJ legislators and tell them to vote NO to override the Gov's veto of S2139. Sen. Loretta Weinberg(201-928-0100), Assem. Gordon Johnson(201-836-4924) and Assem. Valerie Vainieri Huttle (201-928-0100) 2.Priests for Life has begun a Pro Life Freedom Ride throughout the USA. Fr. Frank Pavone, Director of Priests for Life, began the bus ride on July 23rd in Atlanta with a prayer service praying the civil rights litany using the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His niece, Dr. Alveda King, is a full time member of the Pastoral Team of Priests for Life. Based on the freedom rides of the civil rights movement of the 1960's, this Freedom Ride is for the unborn babies. They will be visiting major cities throughout the United States. For information on how you can participate in various ways, go to Priests for Life.org. The unborn babies are counting on YOU! 3. Missouri abortion clinics are now compelled by a new law to offer women ultrasound images and heartbeats of their fetuses before agreeing to an abortion. Dear Parish Family, As I prepare for my involvement with the incoming Confirmation class and high school Youth Group members, I find myself deeply involved in prayer. I will share my reflections and soon, the reflections of the youth in our Parish, weekly as a column in the Youth Ministry section of the bulletin. Prayer is an essential aspect to having faith. During this year’s Confirmation interviews, all children were asked to discuss their use of prayer in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Of course, as an interviewer, I received many variations of answers to this question, but the universal theme was that our Candidates appropriately used prayer in their faith journeys. Prayer comes in many forms, and no one form is mandatory. During Youth Group meetings and retreats this past year, we ended with shared prayer. I want to leave you today with the prayer below and invite you to continue to share your prayers in our Parish community. Thank you. Live Jesus In Our Hearts Forever. -Tom Viola, Youth Minister “Alone with You, O God, I close my mouth and listen. Enlighten me. Inform and edify me.
