Take part in this dreaming, for the revolution will take place here--- it is a rebellion of dreamers, of vision seekers, of romantics and poets and the mad. Those who have stared upon the face of god, those touched by a divinity not their own. As the barren husk falls away, as we drop our shells and our defences, as we let it in, slowly trickling down the sides of this box of three dimensions, we feel it; it is a pressing, a living.... this is the Word from which all things were made, this is the Logos, alive and well and Creating. This is Alive inside us, pushing outwards. This is a dream of freedom, of liberty; this is a Sun, shining forever glorious in its own iridescence, casting forms of reality; scattering like so many rays through a prism. These forms, they dance; it is a story, all of it. Waiting to give birth. Here, we sell dreams, and we make dreams reality. Here, our product is the human Spirit, a nourishing fountain of delight for those willing to feel, to love, to be real. Here is where we begin to make it all come together; here, as a sparkling gem, a stone cast away, here is where we build the new Temple- upon the rubble of the old, the forgotten, the outcast. Here, away from their eyes, we will build a glorious new World from our dreams. Come with us, dear dreamers, let us go off into a world unknown- a world of mystery and magick, a world of adventure and romance; here, we will take our pleasure among the living. Here in our headquarters of forgotten secrets we shall weave our spell over all the world. Here is our protection, a haven of nature; a new harmony, a new society, hidden from view, yet exporting goods and services. It is here that you may be free. Welcome to our World, a world we all share in creating, in Dreaming into existence. It is here and no other place that the New Jerusalem shall come, a product of the minds of Lovers loving existence, celebrating in divinity. Here, there is no shame, there is no guilt, there is only Joy unbounded once you step away from the world of Shadows and embrace the Light within yourself. Join us, wont you, in our celebration? Leave behind this world of commodity, of consumerism, of empty promises. Leave behind their world of slavery and depression and despair; leave it all behind and come and join the New World- one of Peace, of Liberty... come and dream of your highest ideal. Let it not be crushed, but let it be nurtured, and we will help you make it real. Come to us with open arms, in abandonment to all the empty promises they have made you, and we will fulfil them. We ask only that you bleed and dream and work, in passion, in joy, in merriment, willingly and for no other reason that you love to. We can not pay you, but we will offer you a pure life full of all that of which the bounty of earth can give. We will clothe you, feed you, entertain you, and all upon premises which are ethically sound, and which will heal the planet. We give that of which this system never can- we give you true Freedom.
Note: This is a rough draft. Changes, corrections, additions and subtractions will follow. Thanks! Oh, and all feedback is greatly appreciated. <3

As you are reading this, we assume you have an interest in who we are and what we are doing. We are sure that it is no coincidence that you are here, right now, reading these words. Magick is abound in the world right now, and is swirling all around us as we push forward into making a better world. We have noticed that when you align yourself to the highest will to good, the whole universe seems to conspire to help. We would like to extend our thanks to you for all the good you have been doing, struggling to dream of a better world amidst all the apparent darkness. Dreams are very important- and I don't mean the kinds of dreams you have when you are asleep (though they are wonderful.) I mean the kind you have when you are awake, visioning and dreaming of new worlds, new creations, new things to manifest. These dreams are inspired by the human heart, and are a labour of love. Some of us have not yet had the opportunity to realize our dreams; we can feel like the whole world is against us; yet dreams only need a few things to manifest into the world- freedom, clear vision, and confidence. When we dream, we are using our imagination- and when we can connect those dreams to actions, magick can happen. So what is ®Collective? Well, one thing we have called it is a Collective Dreamspace. We want to create a space, physical, emotional and spiritual, where people can dream, and where we can all dream together. Dreams have the habit of being contagious, and of catalysing other dreams. One dreamer dreaming may not be much, but a whole collective of dreamers dreaming, all of whom are willing to do anything to make that dream a reality, is very powerful. Each of our dreams may look different on the outside, yet I believe that we are each only seeing different sides of the same thing, the same perfected future; each of our dreams is like a ray of light reflected through a prism. Each ray comes from the same source, yet that radiant jewel turns the one light into many. So we invite you to come and dream with us. The following is a basic guidebook we are putting together to orient you in who we are, what we are doing, why we are doing and a little bit of the how. Of course, this is only a skeleton. To make it real, we will need to build it, grow it, paint it, write it and sing it into existence. But that is the whole fun of it! It is all an adventure, a game. We invite you to play with us.
Welcome to ®Collective!
1. Mission Statement
®Collective is a collective of people from all walks of life dedicated to the creation of a free space, to
collectively dreaming into our world a better way of life and a better way of being, together. Times are changing and our world is in need of new ways to do things. We are a group that is trying to find a way to live together which is free, equitable and in service to others. We are doing this through the creation of a collective work space where we can produce ethical goods and services which will go to the support of a growing community of people who are actively experimenting in creating a better world. A collective of people shares in a wide array of abilities and skills. These skills we can offer to teach one another, and can offer to the world at large to acquire more resources for the collective. These skills can go to building and nourishing community, if we simply learn to work together for a higher ideal- to create, not for money, but because of passion, necessity and freedom- and most importantly, because we want to. We want to provide a space within which anyone with a strong vision and passion can make their vision come true; and as a collective we can support each being in doing this. We can provide each other with resources, emotional support, advice, teachings, and community. If we work together, we can all help to manifest and make real each others dreams. In this way, each being can reach to their highest potential, following their loves freely and willingly. The ®Collective property/properties exists as a physical hub to the people participating, however the collective is much larger. It consists of any person who desires to make the world a better place through the active support of alternate modes of living and being. Individuals can support and participate in
in a wide variety of ways- from actively buying ®goods and services, to providing donations,
offering to teach workshop, play our festivals, or by learning how to join ®Collective as a contributing member. We also exist to offer free teachings to all beings in as many areas as possible, with a respect towards the worlds wisdom traditions and their models of experience, integrated in to the most up to date science and technology.
will exist to create a growing network of individuals with a wide diversity of
talents, from a large strata of society, and to foster an atmosphere of trust and respect within which all generations and people can cooperate to make a better world.
We aim to be able to provide as many services and products that are currently offered by the prevailing unsustainable system, but in a way which is local, ethical and in the support of the highest aims and ideals, advancing the evolution of ourselves as a culture and a species. Thus our evolution is our revolution. It is only with a focus on selfless service, compassion, peace and understanding that we can create a new world, and a new revolution which is lawful, non-violent and effective. We believe that the change must start with us, that we must become the change we wish to see; and in a world of increasing greed, tyranny, and selfishness, we must stand together in freedom, selflessly and in service to others. The ® stands for collective, that this world and all that is in it belongs to everyone; that all resources, all land, all goods belong to no one and are meant to be shared and not hoarded. The ® is our solution to the “i” We place the ® in front of all goods and services which are produced by members of ®collective. In this way, we are reserving things for everyone, and not just for one person or group. Thus the ® is placed in front, rather than behind; for when it is behind a product, name or title, it reserves it for one person or group. In front, it reserves it for everyone. All products and services will be marketed and sold under the ® Brand. Each individual on the property (and eventually off property that is participating as a producer in the collective) who is producing a good or service can place the ® onto their product to let the world know that they are helping towards the creation of a free society. The collective will also have a full marketing service offered so individuals can package and present themselves with a full professional look, geared towards the specific market they want to reach. We believe that natural living and technology can be merged together in order to build a brighter future, and we are constantly adapting new ways of doing thing. Natural farming, technological communication; home cooking, heated by naturally harvested energy; pioneer living with digital media facilities. Both of these sides of the coin must remain in balance, and we are actively experimenting on how to do this in the most effective manner. We will be holding regular community gatherings on the land. This will include a demonstration and education space for schools, adults and anyone interested in learning. We hold regular full moon gatherings, dedicated to collective vision.
We will also hold regular festivals where community artists can share their talents- musicians, poets, painters and sculptors, performers and teachers. These gatherings will be the lifeblood of the collective, and are the focal hub around which everything we do orbits. The ®Collective property/properties exists as a physical hub to the people participating, however the collective is much larger. It consists of any person who desires to make the world a better place through the active support of alternate modes of living and being. Individuals can support and participate in ®Collective in a wide variety of ways- from actively buying ® goods and services, to providing donations, offering to teach workshop, play our festivals, or by learning how to join ®Collective as a contributing member. As ® Workforce expands, we want to move outwards into partnerships with local farmers who have no one to pass their farms on to, but are looking to retire from their farming. In Ontario, a farm which has lain dormant for 2 or more years is open to developers coming in and buying it. So we look to work with farmers, connecting willing workers to farmers to learn how to farm. the resources made from these endeavours will go back into the ®Collective to provide more room resources for growth, action and charitable acts. As Many of our members living on the land are giving their time, energy and vision towards the building and management of this collective vision, and we are always looking for help of any kind. All of our work and labour goes towards growing our community, and offering free services to the world at large, and any donation of any kind are greatly appreciated and accepted with the intention that they go to the benefit and good of all. We support all incoming aspirants with clothes, food and resources and we are always looking for new ways to expand our outreach to help others. Our ultimate aim is to benefit all beings on their path towards awakening so we can all begin to learn how to work together to explore the universe, both inner and outer. We are located north of Toronto on a beautiful 80 acre property of land - yet we are constantly expanding. We will provide updates as we expand through the latest forms of digital media, utilizing facebook, twitter, blogs and a website to do so. We will be video documenting the whole process as ®Collective grows, utilizing live web feeds, and eventually the production of a documentary to let the whole world know who we are, what we are doing, and how others can do it too.
If you are interested in visiting, please come and check us out. you can call ahead of time, email us, or contact one of the group admins for more information. We would love to hear your beautiful voices. May all efforts from this collective go to the benefit and awakening of all beings throughout the world and universe. May it bring peace, love and understanding to many.
2. Lay of the Land
The R Collective exists on a beautiful 80 acre plot of land, owned by two generous beings, and which is segmented into three spaces. The two beings are Jaison and Jerry Gibson. The first field is Jays field. A good portion of the agricultural space is currently located in this section. The barn/art space is also located here, as is our outdoor kitchen. Much of our time will be spent up here, getting everything up and going. It requires a good deal of maintenance, cleaning, and arranging. This is also the current space for gatherings, festivals and celebrations. Parts of this plot are dedicated to milkweed plants, which are the only plant which monarch butterflies will cocoon on, so we are protecting them. There are also many areas where we let the grass and plants grow, and cut paths all around in between. We ask that you respect these wild areas. The second plot is under the care of Jerry. There are three ponds in it and those ponds are used by the fishing club. Folks pay for permission to fish and come onto the premises from time to time. Since we will be having all sorts of wonderful people from the surrounding areas visiting, we ask that you do not swim in the ponds, out of courtesy for both Jerry and the fishing club. We will, from time to time, be helping Jerry out on various projects to make the land more beautiful. There is a cabin in which we have a library and altar set up. It is one of the holy places on the land. If you ever feel like being in a place that just so happens to be supercharged by spiritual and magickal energies, the whole plot of land is nice. But this cabin is extra nice. Feel free to donate anything you wish to the altar/library - and if you see a book that intrigues you, go ahead and read it! Just be sure to put it back when you are finished with it. Please respect the quiet, nurturing, safe and contemplative nature of this space.
The third field is the field that we will be taking up roost in. For the most part it is an empty field - with enough space to plant gardens and set up our homes. It will be most amazing. There will be zones for grazing animals, such as cows and goats, an area for gardens and an area for living. There are plans in the works for a Tree of Life to be superimposed over a chunk, with areas for tents all around it. This will be a long term project. This whole field is where our experiment will be taking place- to work with the landowners dreams and desires, to help them realize them at the same time as realizing our own. This land is a blank canvas which we can work with. For this reason, we ask that you respect the rules, boundaries and relations with landowners which have been established on property. Always remember to respect the woods, the land, others and yourself. Next to the field are some wonderfully enchanted faerie woods in which we will be spending a good portion of our time. The tree house and forest village will be located in this sector. As fun artsy side projects, we will probably set up shrines and various decorations, to honour and accentuate the natural enchantment of the forest. Another plan we have is to build little Hobbit Holes into the side of some hills which follow along the east side of this field. Along the west side of the field, you will find a stream. This stream is fresh, and the water has tested safe for bacteria (though not heavy metals yet...) The spring is oh-so-nice after a hot day of work, and it is also our bathing area. We ask that when using the spring stream to clean off the dirt, be sure to use biodegradable and natural soap - don't want to adversely effect the wildlife or anything like that- especially because this is where the salmon run come late summer. We <3 wildlife! There are all sorts of other places to explore and we will have a map set up for you - but we don't want to spoil everything. These are the primary places, and when you come in we will show you around - but there is a whole lot for you to explore on your own. That's all part of the fun, eh? Always remember that we are caretakers of this land- we create, hold and protect space for all beings great and small. Even the smallest insect sees this land as their home, and has as much title to it as you or I.
3. What to Bring
Always bring a towel. And a tent/sleeping bag combination. Pillows are quite nice. A few clothes for cool nights and warm days. Extra socks. Any medicine you may need. Toiletries. Tarps. The more the better. Water containment devices. Your positivity. Your brain. Your spirit. Your vision. Seriously. Bring extra glasses and contacts. Biodegradable/organic soap. Any books you want to read/donate to the library. Your computer, if you have one (we will eventually be doing quite a bit of internet work) Eating utensils. Dishes. Hats( Hats are pretty cool, and keep you cool). Sunscreen keeps you from being burned into a little crispy. Flashlights are slammin. Containment device for cigarette butts if you are a smoker. Instruments (Flute, Guitar, Bagpipes, Didgeridoo, Drums, Keyboards, etc. ) Things to make art with (paint, canvases, pencils, sketch pads, etc) Circus performance tools (poi, hula hoops, staves, jugglin' balls) games (checkers, cards, anything you can think of) Magickal utensils (Tarot Cards, Runes, I Ching, wands, incense, sage, etc) Hammocks! Costumes! Cameras! And last, but not least... Your friends!
Housing is currently in development. As of right now we are getting started on the building phase. Tents are a viable solution to the housing situation as of current, but in the future the construction of houses will be well under way. For short term people, transients, or even just those who like tents, there will be space for a tent city. Each tent can have a small garden dug for it, to make it feel a little more like home. You can grow your own herbs, veggies and flowers; and the tent city will be zoned with paths cut so that it feels like a small little village. It is at this point that we would ask that people bring their inner artist along for the ride. Theme camps are wonderful ways to brighten up our space, to make new friends, and to really claim this place as more than just a transient location. Bring out whatever you want to start to set up shelters. Domes, big tents, tarps, hammocks in tree's. Whatever you can dream up we invite you to do. As we gain more resources from our labors, we will be able to construct more permanent buildings.
As these are constructed, they will be divvied out according to two precepts - seniority (when you came) and how long you plan to stay with us. We will also be constructing bunk houses for the transient folks all of you lovely travellers out there. Towards the beginning everyone will take an active part in the construction of their own home. As things progress, people may end up in homes that they didn't build, but by then the homes will be supercharged with so much love that it doesn't matter in the first place.
We will be largely using our own veggies for food - but not entirely. Some of the money we generate through our revenue streams will be fed back into buying food (bulk grains, oils, spices, etc) which will in turn be fed into you. Pretty cool, huh? If you ever wish to cook or assist in the cooking for an evening all that you must do is talk to the kitchen director. They will probably slot you in on the calandar (after, of course, finding out what you wish to cook) and then you will be well on your way to filling every bodies bellies with edible happiness. Some of you volunteer hours can be spent in the kitchen, as the director will need hands to chop things, prepare things, and generally to put together large fabulous meals to feed all of us. As well, the kitchen will basically be buzzing, as we will also be baking bread, preparing preserves, baking pies, and generally makin' bakin'creations to sell at our lovely markets. The kitchen director is in charge of the purchasing of the bulk items, maintaining the kitchen and making sure that everyone gets fed. If you enjoy cooking on the regular, you will probably be getting to know the kitchen director quite nicely. Cooking is going to be primarily vegetarian, but there will be options for all you folks out there who enjoy a good bit of meat from time to time. Funny, thats generally the complete opposite of how it works. Oh, life. There will be set meal times and set snack times. Cant have all our folks slavin away in the kitchen ALLLLL day. Enjoy your food - its generally gonna be really good.
Anything that you can bring and donate would be most graciously accepted. We will put anything we receive to good use - and you will probably put it to good use as well. Anything and everything will be used to its utmost potential. Right now we have the basics set up, but there is always more to be done and used. Food donations are always nice, money donations work, tents, blankets, dishes, cutlery, books, lumber, time, joy, love! Got stuff lying around you want to get rid of? Let us know! Know friends that are moving and can't keep all their stuff, tell us! As we are always growing, always looking to expand and help more people, most things we can put to use. If you have time and skills, those are most highly appreciated- as human beings are the driving force, and the reason for our being. We are always looking for help- to build a cabin or treehouse, to put together a website, to plant a new garden, or to develop an herbal remedy company. All donations will be noted down and will be broadcast to the outside world of everyone who is following us. No good deed goes unrewarded, and as this whole endeavour is an act of love and service, we believe that it should be known that there are people who support us. This a collective endeavour to prove that we can do things differently, and the very foundations of this is in selfless giving- of time, energy, resources and most importantly, of ourselves. Anything you give will be returned with utter loving kindness <3
7. Volunteer/work hours
Much of this project, especially at this level in our development, is based upon good will, charity and service. We work so we can feed the beings who come to us, so we can buy resources so beings can create and do what they love, and so we can shelter and warm them. As well, our relations on the property itself are a measure of our value to the land itself. That means that many hours will be put in to helping the landowners- building cabins, mowing lawns, clearing brush, moving, cleaning and generally being of service. We want to be a positive impact on the land, and a joy to have around.
There will be different kinds of projects occurring at all times in the collective. There will be communal projects which are to bring money in so we can all eat and expand ourselves. These are things like garden maintenance, harvesting food processing, market tending, community services like weeding and landscaping, etc. There will also be simply volunteer projects which have no immediate income, but do provide infrastructure and learning opportunities. These are things like building cabins or other structures on the land, clearing brush form paths, clearing tree's from the woods, mowing lawns, helping Jerry or Jay on various things, etc. Currently, all money being produced will be put directly into covering our costs- food, hydro, internet, wholesale buying, fixing or replacing damaged equipment, and setting up new project- like the supplies to make soap, or candles, or to buy a sewing machine. This pool will also go to showing the financial viability of our service oriented model to other land owners- allowing faster expansion, and access to more resources and skills training. As such, most hours will not be paid at the current state of the project. We may reward ourselves if a particular day goes well, but for the most part we are involved here as an act of good will and passion for change. In the future, however, once we are making a large net gain on top of our expenses and the cost of expansion, we will be able to begin to pay people- or give them the option to put that money back into their part of the project- such as putting money towards resources to build a cabin, or to buy amenities and things that they would personally like. No individual, however, will ever get paid more or less for their services- all hourly wages will eventually be kept equally divided so as to value and appreciate each persons role, no matter what they are doing. All this means, of course, that you need to keep track of all hours you work. We will require a minimum number of hours into volunteer projects and a minimum number of hours into projects which will bring money into the collective. These are basically the equivalents of your rent and your food costs. Volunteer is rent, and collective work pays for food.
8. Money- the elephant in the room
It would be great if we didn't have to deal with this issue, as everything surrounding money is always sticky. It is the elephant in the room that everyone see's but no one wants to mention. We need to look it square in the face and deal with it. Money is energy, a means to growth, and a way to bring resources into our collective. We are building a small world on this land, a microcosm of a different way of life. We can not produce everything ourselves, yet, though. So we need to have a pool of energy to manifest into our lives things we can't get through other mediums. All finances will be kept, outgoing and incoming, and will be available to anyone to look at. All hours worked will be logged, all profits gained will be logged. What money is spent on will be generally decided by the directors of the various areas, determined by reasonable discussion amongst them, with their eyes towards the growth and prosperity of their particular fields of labour, as well as the interest of the collective as a whole. The one current exception to this is artists living on land. Each artist will have a chance to create, to use our events and our network to sell their art, and have access to our artistic resources. As these are personal projects, they will not count to volunteer hours, nor community projects. We ask that producing artists put 25% of their proceeds into the collective pool to help us grow, and to support the collective as a whole. The other 75% is the artists for their labour and skills. If anyone ever has any issues, questions or concerns arising from this, we ask you to speak your mind. Keeping things bottled up is a sure fire way to throw off your own harmony, and the harmony of others. In reference to this, please see the section on communication. Eventually, we will be instating a very simple system of internal currency, more of which will be explained about in a later addition to this guide. Eventually we will be implementing a better system for dealing with money, once their is enough coming to warrant a system. As it stands, we are still in growth mode to stabilize everything.
9. Organizational Structure
We are organized into directors, each of whom oversees and guides the growth of various areas in the collective. These directors all meet on a weekly basis, to work out goals, objectives and to hold us on course in our long term vision. This Bored of Directors is facilitated by a chair, whose job is to keep track of everything going on in a general way, and to be able to communicate as such to any outside groups or third parties. We also have a treasurer, who will be keeping track of all finances, and a secretary who will record each meeting. All notes from meeting will be publicly accessible, as will all finance records. The various directors which have been determined so far are as follows: - garden director - kitchen director - market director - property director - media and communications director - event director - programming director Think of each of these individuals as a hub of energy. They organize each of their areas, deal with managing human resources, answer questions, and are supposed to be as expert in their fields as possible. They are a wealth of experience, information, and inspiration. Each one holds and maintains a Vision, overseeing its manifestation into the Real. Expect an update, or a new guidebook, which will detail the roles of these various directors These directors will expand as we progress, roles will change, and each directorship may evolve into a group, with one individual as the communication hub to relay energy to the next level up in our structure. In this way, communication is kept clear, and management can be kept to a minimum. In general, we operate as a collective, organized as a wholearchy, in which each element is given equal consideration as to their place, as each individual makes an equal income; the only thing which determines ones area of participation is experience, natural proclivity and dedication. As we are looking to create as open and free a space as possible for beings to unfold, the goal of our system is to exist silently in the background to provide infrastructure and resources- filling the TP when it runs out, taking out garbage, growing us food, selling our goods, etc.
10. Blackboard system
We have developed a black board system to use to keep track of all important information, so anyone can know most things by a simple visit to the Chapel (or other places, as blackboards will be everywhere to tell you things) and a glance over a few charts. There is a monthly calender to tell you various kinds of information. It will tell you when people are arriving or leaving, any expedition that might be planned (such as auction adventures, market deliveries, grocery runs, etc). It will list major events, like the full moon or new moon, any festivities that might be planned. It will also show major milestones in gardening, harvesting, etc. The upcoming weather will also be shown with cute little caricatures of sun, rain, clouds, etc. There is a weekly calendar, which is almost always the same. This shows what we do on various days of the week (like holy moon-days, organizational sundays). It will list regular trainings offered, such as yoga, meditation sessions, study circles, etc. There is a section for tasks on the property that need doing. Some tasks will be general that anyone can undertake, and some will be specialized for those with some experience in certain things. If it requires a certain area of training, it will come accompanied with a little symbol to let you know that you need to have acquired that training to do the job (like mowing the lawn.) Larger projects which are ongoing on the property will be open for sign-up on organizational Sun-days for the following week. These projects will be things overseen by directors which need your help. Each project will be listed by name. You will get magnet chips that have you name on them so all you have to do is place you name beside what you want to do. That simple! Each project will have a corresponding folder that gives the basics of what it is, where the project has been, and what the plans are for the future of it. It will also give you the meeting place for that project. Be sure to check this out, or you won't know where to go! There is a manifestation list which you can add to, or help to manifest. These are things we need so we can manifest stuff (I know, that is super broad, but that's the point.) If we need lumber to build a cabin, it is written here. If we need more towels, TP, a toaster, a new hose, a web designer, or someone with construction skills, or certain art supplies you need, all can be written down. And don't limit yourself to physical things. We can manifest anything we set our mind to!
A list of cleaning chores that are always needed to be done will be written here as well. There are always cleaning chores to be done to keep our space in immaculate condition so that everyone can enjoy it to the fullest extent. Always remember that this space is for all of us, and should be cherished and loved with that intent. There is also a space to write in people arriving and leaving. If you know you are leaving, write it down here (if you only plan on leaving for a few days, put that here too.) If you know friends coming, whether it be to visit or to stay long term, you put it here. That way we can always know who is on property and who is not. if you know exact dates, all the better. Refrain from putting notice from tentative friendspeople tend to say one thing and do another. Wait for verification. There will also be a list of all the directors, so if you have any questions, you know who to ask. It will also say where those people are, so they can be found. People driving places (coming from and going to) will also be added. Many people on site do not have a vehicle, and the generosity of others in the mobile transportation is greatly appreciated to get our members from place to place.
11. Workshops, seminars and training
If at any time you feel inclined to host a workshop to educate other people on all the little tidbits of things that you know - be it energy healing, yoga, basket weaving, poi spinning or magickal doings, by all means go for it. The only prerequisite is that you come by, talk to a few people about it so we can get a time set up in the communal workshop space and then, well, advertise. Make it known to your fellows - not that its very hard to do so. We really encourage such things - all of us came here expecting to teach and learn, and workshops are a good way for us to get both of those things done. Get a degree in school that doesnt really mean too much now that you are out in the woods? Share what you've learned! We all have amazing things locked away in the deep dark recesses of our brains (And some recesses not so deep and dark) so lets get together and open the floodgates. We are each vibrant and unique beings, and if we pool our brain power, we can achieve more than if we keep to ourselves.
As well, we will be bringing in teachers and leaders from various traditions- elders, as we like to call them. The are beings that come from many traditions around the world, mystical and magical. ®Collective recognizes that every culture and tradition has wisdom contained within it, wisdom about life and models to experience and understand that life. Some of these traditions have been around for thousands of years and have a great deal to teach us.
So, in the spirit of humility, and an eagerness to learn, we invite these beings to share what knowledge and experience they have culled in their long lives on the spiritual path. We ask that you respect these elders and the traditions they represent, and please take advantage of this opportunity to explore these traditions with an open mind, with an air of fun, and without dogma or preconception.
R Collective is, amongst other things, an experiment in new media communications technologies. It is highly recommended that when you get a chance, you write about your experiences and share it with the world. It isn't necessary, but it is nice, and will help us grow faster and expand bigger. We hope to spread the overall feel of what we are doing over the internet via the digital voices of everybody involved. We will be broadcasting much of what we find over the internet - from the most effective way to preserve strawberries , or how to marry permaculture and traditional agriculture; to how to create an effective social networking site and marketing scheme, or how to help out the local farmers. We want to connect everything we do on the ground to the digital. Every aspect of the what happens will be accessible to the world through various facets, so everyone can follow us, support us and share their ideas and vision for our space. Feedback we get will be put to use. In this way, people can inform us about agricultural techniques that would work better, or tell us about a cool way to preserve our food, or let us know that their uncle happens to have that bus we really wanted and could give it to us. It will also allow us to communicate with the outside world; so all lectures, workshops, seminars, and other education services we provide for free will also be accessible through the Internet. Each director will also be keeping a blog as they progress with their areas of expertise, so you can get to know us each as people, and get to know our visions, our dreams, our challenges and our triumphs.
We will be pouring all kinds of information into the internet in order to help jump start the collective consciousness. As people hear about these things many of them will feel stirrings of excitement. That's a good thing. Even if they don't join up with us, perhaps they will find an opportunity to start their own community or even join someone else's. Dreams are contageous. We exist to inspire others, to let the world know that it can be done, that people can work together for a higher purpose, and that we can do so without greed, fear or shame. So long as we can inspire people to make positive changes in their lives, we are using digital communication effectively. So, it is recommended that you communicate at least a bit of what you are doing to the outside world. It will inspire people. And the world could use a bit of inspiration right now!
13. Celebrations, Holy days and free time
Gatherings are the primary reason for our existence. We build space so other people can fill it an enjoy it. We want to share the abundance of the land, we want to meet new people, and we want you to meet new people too! Community is the reason for our being, it is the raison d'etre of this whole experiment. Without people, without love, without community, we whither and die. People and their love are the water to our plant. So we get together and we celebrate. Celebration is fun, and it builds community and vision. That's a large part of why we do it. The other part of why we do it is that it is deeply engrained into our culture as a way to give thanks to the universe for the abundance it grants us and to cast our focus in certain directions. When do we do this? Well, on every major turning of the seasonal wheel we gather (that means 8 times a year, on the 2 solstices and 2 equinox's, and on the midpoints.) We meet on every full moon, and we also hold sporadic festivals for various things (and sometimes just because!) Our holy days are Moon Days (think Mondays). Moon Days are good days to step back, meditate, relax, review, and enjoy this wonderful world you are co creating. Moon Days are days of feminine energy and recharging batteries. Another plus - you get to wake up late after the big fire of Sun-Day night. Plus, its nice to have a sabbatical on a Monday. Mondays don't deserve the bad rap they get. Darn you, western society.
In relation to Moon-day, we also have Sun Days (Sundays), which are the days of collective envisioning. We hold our meetings on these days and towards the end we will have a big group fire and celebration. A milder one, because it is weekly, but it is a good time to get your energy out! We share music and poetry, we dance and sing- we share our beings with one another. We also collectively vision and dream. We have various rituals and forms we can experiment with for this. Also on these days, we have a big community meeting, after which the Bored of Directors will meet and set goals and objectives for the next week. Celebrations are fun. Generally, after a celebration we take it a bit easier the next day. Going to sleep at 3 in the morning and then waking at sunrise the next day to pull weeds is a bit brutal. If we don’t celebrate being alive, then we forget why we are doing all of this. Because we love life and we love living, we love nature and we love each other, and celebrating is how to remind ourselves of that. As for free time, besides filling our allotted time on volunteer projects, and the allotted time working to bring an income into the community, you are free to explore, create and enjoy. We want to make this community so that work is kept to a minimum, in that we aren't 'working for a living'. We believe (and know) that we can sustain ourselves with food, and with a steady income, without giving all our time to that strange creation which is money. Time is not money. Time is art. We are alive to create and to be, not to make a profit. So we aim to set everything up so that we all can thrive and sustain ourselves, while still having plenty of our lives to do the things we love to do.
14. Communication- The foundation of community
Though it may sound cliche, it is important to talk to people about things that bother you. Do not let things fester, and always try to keep communication open. As we are a small community, and are living in close proximity, attempting to navigate social and emotional spaces which are new, strange and challenging, we must all see this as an opportunity to learn and grow. Remember to always listen, and that the beings here are, like yourself, on a path towards the Light. We all face our own challenges, our own trials, and are each overcoming problems unique to each of us. We are here with a recognition than none of us are perfect, and that we are all working on ourselves; we are each learning and growing in wisdom and compassion.
Compassion and wisdom are our Keys here to making this all work. That's means expressing yourself in a non-hostile and open way, with the aim of resolving any energetic tension. If you feel someone is not working hard enough, not cleaning up after themselves, or anything else, please express this; however, do so gently, and be willing to listen to the other person. Many people here come with complex emotions, and things are never as simple as we think. Often outer habits and behaviours are reflections of deep change and challenges we are facing internally, and it is important to remember that we are all emotional beings trying to do good, and we each come with our own things to work on. Conversely, that also means listening if someone has something to say to you about your behaviour. Listen, and do not take it defensively. Try to see and understand where a person is coming from, and try to honestly look at yourself and see if indeed what they are saying is true, even if only partially. To be able to look at ourselves (and others) this way takes humility, patience and compassion. We must be willing to admit our faults, and also respect the feelings and observations of others, without also loosing ourselves or feeling ashamed or negative from these encounters. Keep good humour, and be willing to see it all as a benefit to your growth. Some things may not be easy to hear; they may trigger very strong reactions in us, and it can be natural to want to place blame on the person telling us something in order to not take responsibility for our emotions. Here, though, we are trying to take responsibility for our feelings, and learn that in the end, how we feel comes down to us, not someone else. We must see each challenge as an opportunity to take responsibility for ourselves, our emotions and our actions. If you are ever having any serious issues, please come to speak to someone on the property. Most of us, if not all of us, here are willing to listen, to offer advice, and to be a sounding board. The space we make is supposed to be one of safety, of refuge and of freedom- a place to feel nourished, supported and challenged.
15. Working on other farms
The R Collective will be assisting other farmers on their land. In Ontario, there is a law that states that if a farmer has not maintained their land for 2 years, development companies are free to come in and buy up the land. There are a lot of older farmers with no one to take over their land who cannot do it all on their own. We are moving in to assist them. Various deals will be worked out with various farmers, but our primary goal is to keep them from getting completely and utterly screwed over. We will probably have some of our volunteers move over and begin training in order to help with the land. These will not be permanent shifts, of course, you will be free to return to the main community - but we will have people moving into the land outside on a semi regular basis. If you choose to go out, you will also be acting as a scout - surveying for more territory to expand. Some of the farmers will be okay with us expanding onto their property and allowing us to use a bit of their land in return for our assistance. Both parties win! For this reason, this first land, the ®Farm, is an experiment. If we can do it here, we can move the model to other places and expand ®Collective. For that reason, we are building slowly, gradually, and trying to keep everything as clean and open as possible. If we can demonstrate that it can be done, we will clear the way for others. We are, in a very real sense, pioneers. our actions and our choices will reflect on the future of this project.
1. No driving fast on the roads on property. 2. Please smoke away from other people. Many of us are not smokers, and some of us are trying to quit. Please try to maintain at least 15'-20'. Also, throw your butts out. They poison soil and animals. 3. No swimming in the ponds! 4. No nudity around non ®collective members. (apparently this makes some people uncomfortable...)
