In an earlier lesson, the polite present negative form of nouns and ߥ-adjectives was covered. Today’s
grammar point will introduce the plain form.
To form this construction, just substitute ޽ࠅ߹ߖࠎ (arimasen) with ߥ޿ (nai).
ర᳇ߢߪ޽ࠅ߹ߖࠎĺర᳇ߢߪߥ޿
genki dewa arimasen ĺ genki dewa nai
ర᳇ߓ߾޽ࠅ߹ߖࠎĺర᳇ߓ߾ߥ޿
genki ja arimasen ĺ genki ja nai
If you add the copula ߢߔ (desu) to the end of your plain form sentence, you will have a polite sentence
again:
ర᳇ߢߪߥ޿ĺర᳇ߢߪߥ޿ߢߔ
genki dewa nai ĺ genki dewa nai desu
ర᳇ߓ߾ߥ޿ĺర᳇ߓ߾ߥ޿ߢߔ
