Today we have three Grammar Points that we would like to cover. The frst is the plain (inIormal) past
tense oI ii / yoi, which is yokatta. Next up is the plain volitional Iorm oI class 1 verbs, and at last, a small
note about 'sonna¨.
Yokatta
The adiective 'ii¨ is oIten looked upon as having an irregular coniugation, because it becomes 'yokatta¨ in
the past tense. But when we realize that the original Iorm oI 'ii¨ is 'yoi¨, we see that it really isn`t irregular.
Just drop the last 'i¨, and add 'katta¨ as with any other i-adiective.
