PURPOSE

Construct the Titration Curves of some Amino Acids and determine the PI of each acids .

WHAT ARE AMINO ACIDS ?

They Are determine by the following Structures .

C*: is - Carbon .
COOH : - Carboxyl Group ( Proton Donor / Acid ) .
NH2 : Amine Group ( Proton Acceptor/ Base ) .
R : Alkyl Group (-H , CH3 .. etc ) .
NOTE : If R group (-H) the amino acid call Glycine .
Definitions

TITRATION : a teachnic by which measure amount of an acid or base is add to

amount of Base ( Acid ) .

INFLECTION POINT : A PH at which 0.5 mol of Base is add to 1.0 mol of acid .

PI : iso electric point , the PH at which the net charge on the molecule is zero
(Zwitter Ion) , the ion does not migrate in an electric field .

Equivlance Point : The point in which an exact concentration of an acid is

determind . Mol H+ = Mol OH-

At the inflection Point

PH = PKA

Titration Curves

1- Neutral ( Alanine )
) 2- Basic ( Arginine

) 3- Acidic ( Aspartic Acid
