1.Well, the object of special value to me is a little watch. the watch was
designed for women and one of my French girlfriends gave it to me as a souvenir of our friendship.
This little watch is of very special meaning to me because it always reminds me of those days I

3.This year is extra special for me for according to the Chinese zodiac calendar it is the year
of the dog, which is my year. So I think that is good enough excuse to throw a big party. At six,my
best friend Lina and Monica came to my party looking fabulous in their elegant black dresses,
bringing with them a big cake. Twenty other friends came later that day. Before I knew it, it was
12 midnight. I was led into the room to blow out candles and cut the cake, signifying me turning
one year older. Then it happened. Alex pushed the candles further down into the cake. And I smelt

candles from the cake with his mouth. So I leaned forward and bang, the next second, my head

Practicing a sport is a popular leisure activity. It is known that people who do physical
exercises keep fit and healthy. Moreover, taking up a sport has also many psychological
advantages. First, it relieves the stresses of everyday life and second it helps individuals identify
with a group and replace their loneliness with a security of belonging. While choosing a sport
discipline which is particularly suitable for us we have to take into consideration our age, fitness,
state of health and mood. Sometimes it is very difficult, but there is a very simple solution of this
problem - which is basketball.
I think that basketball is the most universal sport in term of everything. Furthermore it is a
suitable sport discipline for everyone including children and adults. Everyone should be able to go

hands improperly. During the match each player can commit five fouls. Each more is punished by
two free throws.

practicing basketball every day. As they say they are very strict with themselves when playing

1. DOG: I have only had I pet so far in my life and that would be our family dog Sable. He's
four years old now but he acts like a puppy. Some people think he's hyper, naughty or cute. He has
all these qualities but what people don't know is that he's very affectionate, protective and caring.
Whenever we come home he's always there to appreciate our company. He's a really good guard
dog even though his small. If we're on our own in a different room he checks up on us every few
minutes to check I we're still there. Sable always cares if someone's gotten hurt because he
recognizes that when people are in pain they cry. So he always licks our tears up by saying it's
okay. Even if we get another pet, Sable will always be our first and in that way he's special.
Dog lovers have no problem telling you why the dog is considered man's best friend. Loyalty,
unconditional love, companionship and laughs. Any doctor can also tell you that having pets
makes our lives better and makes us healthier, by convincing us to be more active. No matter how
lazy you feel, who can resist Rover when he comes up begging to go for a walk? You can't argue
with the fact that we become much more relaxed, lowering our blood pressure, when our loving
dog or cat comes to us to say hello and asks for a gentle pet.
Dogs are amazing creatures! Not only can they be incredible friends, but many dogs provide
humans with much needed assistance, as well as love and companionship. It literally brings tears
to my eyes to see how some of these wonderful service dogs faithfully do their jobstheir
mission in life is to help people. From being their eyes, to helping them get around in wheelchairs.
From picking up a dropped pencil, to warning the deaf that something needs their attention.
I'm a dog lover. I'm particularly in love with larger/smart dogs, such as shepherds, labs and
collies. Sadly, we had to put our Sheltie down two years ago from cancer and, the next year, our
Shepherd due to hip disease. They both had very good lives as our constant pals for 12 years. As
much as I miss them, it's hard for me to imagine the feeling of loss to someone who depends on
their dogs to get through their day.
2. TIGER: I don't have any pets but if I could have one I would get a white tiger. Not only are
they the coolest animal EVER but they are majestic. That would be sooo awesome to have a tiger.

DESCRIPTION: Pandas are famous for their black and white markings. The legs, shoulders, ears
and oval patches around the eyes are black, and the rest of the coat is white. Good tree climbers,
pandas can also swim to escape predators. Pandas use an enlarged wrist bone that looks like a
thumb to grasp objects like bamboo. Scientists disagree about whether the giant panda is closely

SIZE: Pandas weigh an average of 200 to 300 pounds and reach six feet in length.
POPULATION: Only 1,000 pandas exist in the wild and 60 in zoos.
LIFESPAN: The panda's lifespan in the wild is unknown but in captivity averages more than 20
years.
RANGE: The shrinking range of the panda is limited to parts of Szechuan, Shensi and Kansu
provinces in central and western China.
HABITAT:The panda lives in thick bamboo and coniferous forests evergreens with seed cones
at 8,500 to 11,500 feet elevation.
FOOD: Pandas feed mostly on bamboo, a tall woody plant full of fiber. The panda's digestive
system does not absorb the fiber, so it must eat a lot. Pandas also eat flowers, vines, tufted grasses,
green corn, honey and rodents.
BEHAVIOR: These solitary animals spend most of their days feeding. Although they live in cold
forests, pandas do not hibernate. They move to lower elevations during winter to keep warm and
to higher elevations in summer to stay cool. They do not have permanent homes but sleep at the
bottom of trees and under stumps and rock ledges.
OFFSPRING: After a gestation period of 125 to 150 days, a mother panda gives birth to one or

I ching
I ching is the oldest known book in old Chinese history and one of the most important

My grandfather.

My friends and I often go to la pure caf in our spare time. It just locates in our neighborhood
so it's very convenient for us to go there. We can enjoy its famous cappuccino coffee or chocolate

Computer
It was a gift from my boyfriend to congratulate my graduation two years ago. Although its
model is a bit out of date its work performance is still in good conditions. I spend at least 5 hours
in front of my laptop everyday. It is the most important tool for my study and work. I need it to
finish my paper, make presentation slides, and do the lab data analysis, simulate the Chemical
Engineering model. In my spare time, I use the laptop to surf on the internet to read news or find

Describe A difficulty experience and how to solve it
Last week I installed my laptop by my own, it may not be considered as a problem by others
but it was really a big difficulty to me. I never installed a whole operating system before. Last
week my laptop got virus and crashed, unfortunately I was in urgent need of my computer to
prepare my TOEFL exam. I have to get all the software CDs, print out some install instructions
from internet, carefully follow the protocols, backup all my important information and data before
formatting the hard diskthere was so many unknown things to me, but fortunately I finally
managed them all and get my computer recovered.
Small group discussion or lecture?
In larger lecture, you may feel boring with professor's speech or become sleepy after a while
so your understanding will decline. But this will not happen during group discussion. Group
discussion is more efficient for carry on a project, everyone are forced to give their own opinion
and thinking. Group discussion can inspire creativity and brainstorming, in discussion you will
automatically find your knowledge become more systematically and improved during the group
talks.
Eat out with friends or eat at home?
We would prefer to eat in restaurants. First reason is that we usually are exhaust after a whole
day work and have no energy to cook. And we often feel starve after work so we want to find
something to eat as soon as possible, to cook by myself is too time consuming, so definitely to eat
out is a quick solution. And there are many good restaurants locate around my company and my
neighborhood, it's not expensive but very delicious food. We can easily choose anyone of those,
finish our dinner within an hour and enjoy the rest of the evening.

I've been to Barcelona twice, and have been to Sagarada Familia twice. I was shocked by the
great architecture even though it's not finished yet. The architect Mr. Antoni Gaudi made it a
perfect fusion of the natural elements and every piece of block in this church. You will find the
inspirations of pillars are come from the trees and leaves, the tower shape are come from corns
and flowers. It was amazing that Gaudi can design such a complicate church as an artwork and the
Barcelona people's great patience in building it.

I would prefer the university in a small city. Small city is quiet and peaceful, it is a perfect
place for study. I used to study in a famous university locates in a small city of Europe for several
years, and I enjoyed the academic atmosphere very much. I will not be bothered about noise or
traffic jam. We can easily get to campus by bicycle within 10 minutes so we'll not waste our time
on traffic, there's always fresh air and beautiful flowers outside my window, so we'll not worry of
air pollution.
Prefer live with roommates or alone?
I would like to live with one or two roommates. First of all by sharing room with others it
will reduce the rent. Second I will not feel lonely because the roommate's existence, we can talk to
each other, share information and cook together. And it is a good way to get to know more friends,
we can take the chance to know each other's friends. I used to have a roommate who is a very
capable girl. She is now one of my best friends. I learnt a lot from her, and we still keep in touch
even we've moved apart for two years.

I would prefer to read a novel. Poem and magazines are very good literatures but for me they
are too short and easily can be forgotten. But a novel is a relative long and a complete story, it is
more attractive by the story's developing pace. So the story is easy to be remembered. And in
different novels we can experience variety styles of life, those we may not have chances to make it
by our own life. There can be romantic stories like <gone with the wind>, magic worlds like in the
<Harry potter>, and even some history novels by which we can easily understand the world
