Mahd

has finally come out of his shell. Masha allah he is communicating, interacting and
responding. For this month I have recorded a few of the incrdible learnig he has been doing
around his learnig priorities.

Learning priority is to widen social ineraction and develop a sense of others. To begin to
communicate and respond to others.

Mahd has been developing his fine motor skills by using tongs to pick up small objects.
This in turn will help him to develop scissor cutting skills as well as handwritting.
Although it was difficult for Mahd to manipulate the tong with one hand but he kept
persisting untill he could do it.

In the sandpit Mahd was using a shovel to fill up the back of the truck. When I asked him
what he was doing, Mahd responded rubish truck, putting rubish here. He then
pretend to drive the van to his disignated area and lefting the back of the van emptied
the sand out before coming back and starting over. Masha allah, Mahd here is making
connections between his learning at the centre and how things work in the world, i.e.
developing working theories.

I was jumping on the small sports trampoline when Mahd came running towrds me. He
then started to sing five little monkeys jumping on the bed nursary rhyme for me.
Masha allah, he was making a reference between me jumping and the five monkeys
jumping on the bed.

I was sitting with the a group of children close to the sandpit while Mahd was standing
by the sandpit and looking at the children playing. After a few minutes he esclaimed
loudly, oh look Adeeba is naughty. I was surprised by his claim so I asked him why. He
went to get something from Adeeba and then came back to show me. Mahd said this
boat for water. Masha Allah, Mahd recognised that the toy didnt belong in the sandpit
and was actually a water toy.

I was sitting with children and talking about what animals can fly. Mahd was playing
with his truck. After a few minutes my conversation with other children had finished
when Mahd came to me and said a buterfly. I didnt know what he meant so I said
where is it. Mahd said buterfly fly. Masha Allah he was listening to us before and must
have been thinking about what flies.

The children and I were sitting at table. We were making animals out of play dough. We
were using an animal book and dicussing animal features etc. Mahd pointed at the
crocodile and said dinosaur sad. I asked him why did he think the dinasaur (crocodile)
was sad. Mahd replied its fallen down. Subhan allah, it took me a minute to realize
what he meant. Mahd thought the crocodile was a dinosaur because it has all the
features of a dinasur like scales on the back etc. He thought it was sad because dinasour
stand on their feet not lie down on their bellies so it must be hurt so its feeeling sad.
Incridble refernce making Mahd!
