Jesus’ First Miracle

Jesus was at a wedding with His disciples and

His mother, Mary.

While they were there, the party ran out of

wine. Mary came to Jesus and told Him, “You
need to fix this.”

“Why are you telling me this, mother?” asked

Jesus, “It is not yet time for me to do this.”
But, she went to the servants and said to them,
“Do whatever he tells you.”

So, Jesus did as His mother asked Him, and He

fixed the problem.

He looked around and there stood six big jars,

‘Fill them with water,” He said.

They filled them all the way to the top.

“Now take some to the person in charge,” He

said.
So the servants took a cup full of water to the
man in charge.

He drank it, and exclaimed in surprise, “This is

the best wine I’ve ever tasted! I’m surprised
you waited this long to serve it!”

This is the first miracle that Jesus ever

performed.

After this Jesus traveled down to Jerusalem for

the Passover feast and visited the temple.
Jesus was absolutely appalled at what He saw!
Inside of the temple people were selling
animals, and trading money.

They were loud and obnoxious, but they were

not worshipping God.
Jesus was mad. He was very mad. He looked
around and found some cords. He started
twisting them together to make a whip.

“God’s house should be where you worship

Him! You should be praying and singing
songs, not selling cows,” He shouted as he
drove them from the court.
As Jesus taught at the temple, the Jews
demanded for Him to do miracles.

“Destroy this temple, and I will rebuild it in

three days,” He said.

“How can you do that?” They asked. “It took

46 years to build it, how can you rebuild it in
three days?”

But Jesus was not talking about the temple, but

about His body. Later, after Jesus had died the
disciples remembered what Jesus had said and
were amazed.
