Software

4.1.1 All initial and subsequent GSM/EDGE software releases shall be capable o
f being implemented without hardware revision unless otherwise identified in the
GSM/EDGE roadmap documentation.
4.1.2 The Vendor shall state that new or updated software releases shall be lo
aded to GSM/EDGE Network elements with minimal downtime and impact on live traff
ic. The Vendor shall declare any impacts during the activation of the new softwa
re.
4.1.3 The Vendor shall state that new or updated software releases shall not d
egrade any agreed KPIs. In the event of such degradation the issue will be treat
ed and fixed with highest priority.

The system should support following SIB Type 1 to 6

The system should support A interface circuit pool switching when A interface do
es not support both channel rate alternatives and all speech codec alternatives
for a channel rate given in the request
The system should support Multilayer traffic handling capability
The system should support progressive AMR power control a mechanism to change th
e RXQUAL threshold for AMR calls depending on used power level. Enabling power i
ncreases with low power levels and avoid it with higher power levels, thereby re
ducing overall interference. This should be configurable separately for AMR FR a
nd AMR HR, and in the downlink and uplink direction
The system support 4-way Rx Diversity.
The system should support Downlink Diversity by transmitting the same baseband s
ignal via two different TRX¡‾s/Antennas but with a phase shift thus increasing t
he coverage area of cells by enhancing downlink radio performance and diversity
gain of the BTS. Please explain the mechanism.
The system should support Double power TRX and double the TRX output power by sy
nchronously combining the two transmitters of the Dual TRX. The increase in outp
ut power should be measure able on the single BTS antenna port.
The BTS should support Antenna hopping.
The BSS should support Directed retry to other GSM cells and to underlay cells i
n case of overlay cell congestion.
The BSS should support optimization of MS power level during handovers to cut do
wn the possible high RF power peaks in UL. Please explain the mechanism.
The BSS should support rapid field drop measurement (e.g. due to MS turning a co
rner and signal strength drops by 30dB) to detect Deep dropping Edge (DDE) for s
erving cell signal and handover the call to the correct adjacent cell.
The BSS should support Discontinuous reception (DRX) to enable mobiles to listen
to their own paging group only.
The BSS should support at least 32 neighboring GSM cells per cell.
The BSS should support forced release after unsuccessful forced handover attempt
due to congestion in neighbor cells or lack of suitable neighbor cells. It shou
ld be possible to activate/deactivate this functionality for every priority leve
l individually on operators choice.
The BSS should support GSM-WCDMA and GSM-LTE interworking.
The BSS system should support IMSI based handover:
The BSS should support Multi operator BSS so that a BSS network can be connected
to 2 or more Core networks. The following functionalities should be supported:
The directed retry should also consider MS class mark or MS priority level and c
ell type when making DR Decision.
The system should support dual band operation

3.7.1 The Vendor shall indicate any other GERAN features that may allow improv
ing, coverage/capacity/quality of a GSM/EGPRS network. A description of the fea
ture(s) shall be provided as well as the release of availability.
