11 2017 Latino Leadership and College Experience Camp: Schedule and Information
LLCEC Norms: What values will we uphold to have the best week possible?
LLCEC Norms:
1. In lak’ech: Seeing each other as an extension of ourselves, we will value and respect all participants as
worthy, sacred and loved members of our familia.
2. Self-Care: In order to achieve my best in all I do; in order to be ready to learn and participate, I must take
care of myself. I will drink water, eat, ask for help or support if I need it and get rest and sleep.
3. Community-Care: We thrive best in community. I will be aware of others and sensitive to their needs. If I see
a task that I can help with, I will lend a hand. If I see someone is struggling, I will offer support.
4. Own your journey: While we are here to have fun, we are also here to learn. I realize there is a lot for me to
learn no matter my role. I will take ownership of my schedule, I will be attentive and participate in my
classes, family meetings and workshops; I will respect all the guest speakers. I will limit distractions like
social media while others are teaching and speaking.
5. Gratitude: From the instructors to the facilitators to the staff, many people are making sacrifices to put this
program together for you. Respect their contributions through a spirit of gratitude. You may not like, prefer
or enjoy some of the activities, materials or meals; the LLCEC directors do their best to offer a variety of
opportunities so that everyone finds something they enjoy. Do your best to learn and appreciate something
even if it isn’t your preference. Be thankful that our shelter is safe, our food is nutritious and our community
is together for this week.
