Abstract
This article discusses about combustion characteristics of briquette from waste of palm leaf
sheath in South Kalimantan. Oil palm plantations in South Kalimantan produce a lot of waste of
palm leaf sheath. Furthermore, this waste can be used as material of briquette because it has low
water content and high calorific value. Therefore, in this research briquette is created by mixture
of palm leaf sheath and peat soil which had been dried in a cylindrical shape with varying
percentage of 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30%. It was burned to know combustion
characteristics. The result showed combustion characteristics are effected by briquette mixture.
