#BusinessGoals

The municipality of Baliwag conducted their very first Health Fair last Tuesday,
July 18, 2017, in Baliwag Star Arena from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event was
anchored on the national Nutrition Month theme, “Healthy Diet, Gawing Habit for
Life!”

Numerous citizens from different barangays, local entrepreneurs, teachers, student
journalists, and local officials, including Mayor Ferdie Estrella himself, filled the
entire arena. Chief organizer Ms. Brenda C. Bernardo described the objectives of
the event: to celebrate Nutrition Month; to promote health, wellness, and safety of
the people; and to introduce the products of local entrepreneurs.

The event not only served as a seminar, but also gave our local businesspeople the
opportunity to advertise their products proudly-made in Baliwag, and the local
consumers the opportunity to experience them. There were various stalls all around
the venue and we grabbed the chance to interview some of the owners and officers.

First, we had the Manna ng Panginay Bakeshop owned by Ms. Evelyn dela Cruz.
Her product was an egg pie with turmeric (luyang dilaw). It is good for the heart as
it helps decrease cholesterol levels.

Next, we had Nolan Lucas Homemade owned by Ms. Nikki Reyes. Her products
include chili garlic and pesto sauce with the following main ingredients: garlic,
basil, and olive oil. It helps regulate blood pressure and is good for moms who
breastfeed for it contains Vitamin C and Calcium.

Lastly, we had MENRO or Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office,
who focused on producing eco-friendly products such as recycled bags, slippers, and
lamps. Their goal was to foster diversity and reduce waste by turning them into
useful, innovative goods.

All in all, the Baliwag Health Fair served as a reminder for us to take care of our
health and our environment. It was filled with lots of fun and lessons that we
should always remember. When it comes to eating, here is something to keep in
mind: Always go for what is needed and not what is available.

Happy Nutrition Month everyone!
