1.Introduction:
The book is a great source to study and for analysis of waste water and its treatment. The book
also tells a lot about its constituents, the different aspects of waste removal program and the
different methods involved in the waste water management program. The whole review is divided
into four heads namely- BASICS, COMPONENTS, CLEANING and DISPOSAL.

1.1Provisional Thesis Statement

Waste water management is different in different countries but the basic science behind the
methods of the treatment remains the same.

2. Premise A
BASIC: Waste water is very well defined in this book. The purpose of the book of introducing
different waste water management program have been very well justified by the writers. Each and
every treatment has been well defined and explained with diagrams. But more diagrams related to
the corresponding topic would have been better giving a scope to the reader to understand the
subject well. Definitions of the terms in the book are apt yet a little explanation would have been
better for the readers to be affluent with the subject. Flowchart illustration topics like that of the
treatment could have been illustrated in the book in order to make it easier to acknowledge. The
different types of waste water that is the industrial waste water and domestic waste water is not
defined here. This book also defines the biochemical oxygen demand and the chemical oxygen
demand of water and how waste water effects the oxygen content in a water body. But it does not
highlight about the negative impact of waste water on land, banks, rivers, seas, oceans and as well
as the marine life.

3. Premise B
COMPONENTS OF WASTE WATER: The components of waste water have been finely
described in this book including their percentage they generally are present. The different types

3
impurities that is to say the organic and inorganic wastes that pollute the water have been described
here very impressively. There are various types of waste that can be categorized under the organic
and inorganic wastes. These have been clearly specified in the book. The book also highlights the
negative impact of each of these waste materials on the environment, human and the ecosystem on
the whole. It also states the minimum value of the suspended foreign particles that are allowed in
the water for which water can be used. It beautifully explains how these waste materials are
harmful to us. It also suggests the limitations of these particles. Since waste water has not been
classified into industrial waste water and domestic waste water, no article is present in the book
regarding the types of materials that are present in these two types of waste water, why they are
present and at what percentage.

4. Premise C
CLEANING OR TREATMENT OF WASTE WATER: The waste water treatments have been
disused appropriately. The loop hole in this case is that the modernized methods of treating the
waste water is only explained here. The citation of the different types of treatment programs have
been explained yet no summarizations of the process are given. The purpose of all the treatments
are though same but the origin of the idea of a particular treatment is not specified. Proper graphs
and diagrams are provided for the readers to have an idea about the topic. But the diagrams are not
enough. More diagrams would have helped a reader to understand a particular method of waste
water treatment with much more ease. A lot of treatment methods have been described but the
utility of these treatments and their efficiencies have not been stated. A treatment explained with
some summarized explanations with the diagram of plant, its method of working been stated could
have given a better idea about the treatment plant as well as the treatment method. The graphs are
there to give a clear idea about the explanations of a corresponding graph is either not present or
is not described properly. The flow-chats could also have been included. Flowcharts of the process
of treatment can give a better idea about the methodology of a particular process. Flow-charts also
gives us an idea about the structure of a treatment plant. Though a number of waste water
treatments have been briefed, but the pros and cons of each of them have not been defined. The
parameters of the treatment have not also been said in the book. The book has only specified the
modern tools of treating waste water. No traditional methods of treating waste water have been
discussed in the book. The traditional methods and their drawback and also their relation with the
modern and advanced day way of treatment must be assembled in the book.

5. Premise D
WASTE WATER MANAGEMENT IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES: Waste water treatment is a
serious issue in many countries and also in many parts of the country with varying topography and
socio-economic conditions. The treatment process of waste water in the rural areas is absolutely
different from that of the urban regions. These differences and their ways of waste water treatment
have been very well depicted in this book. The treatment of waste water in the rural areas are easier
because of their life style and the process is very well described. The quantity and quality
composition of the waste highly is dependent on the people, their occupation and usage of water
in a particular part of the country. This has been done very clearly. The practical examples that are
missing from the book could have enhance the idea amongst readers. Again, the diagrams that are
provided are theoretical and does not give a clear idea other than the scientific explanation of the
working principle of a method of treatment. Had the treatment plant been summarized and the real
diagrams of the plants been provided then it would have been more appealing.

6. Conclusion
Lastly no initiations of creating a public awareness is not made through the book which is a reason
for neglecting the waste water treatment method in many cases in many places on the earth. Despite
of the small loop holes, this book is a good source of knowledge about the different programs for
the treatment of waste water. On a whole, this book is an efficient book for waste water treatment.
