PLM415 Course Overview

Course Overview
This course provides information on integrating Quality Management into the processes of
procurement, inventory management and sales processes.
Our Company wants to implement a process for quality assurance in procurement and in sales.
This involves defining who can deliver which material in the required quality. You must also
ensure that the delivered materials meet the criteria with as little time and effort as possible.
Finally, our company wants to trace how the quality of the delivered materials develops.
The SAP Quality Management applications are part of the SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource
Planning) and SAP PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) solutions.
The information in this course refers to the SAP ERP Central Component 6.0 software
component, SAP Enhancement Package 5.

Unit 1
Quality Management at Goods Receipt and
during Goods Movement
Unit Overview
In this chapter, we will demonstrate the quality inspections during goods receipt and during
goods movement using various processes.
The individual lessons illustrate the respective processes. The inspection lots that arise
belong to inspection lot origin 01 or to inspection lot origin 08. This Inspection lots are
stock-relevant.

Lesson: Quality Management at Goods Receipt


Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to:
Maintain the material master and inspection types
Determine the use of inspection plans, material specifications, and defects
recording, and distinguish between them
Describe QM process at goods receipt

Lesson: Quality Management During Goods Movements


Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to:
Control the creation of an inspection lot
Perform stock transfers in inspection stock
Change inspection plan assignment and sample determination
Correct the inspection lot quantity
Explain the link between material documents and inspection lot

Unit 2
Quality Management in procurement
Unit Overview
In this chapter, we will demonstrate Quality Management in procurement using various
processes. We will also demonstrate Procurement Documents and Quality Certificates at
goods receipt.
The individual lessons illustrate the respective processes. The inspection lots that arise belong
to inspection lot origin 01. This Inspection lots are stock-relevant.

Lesson: Control in Procurement


Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to:
Explain why an invoice has been blocked because of a quality inspection
Control the procurement process using the quality info record
Show why an inspection is skipped when a vendor is certified
with a specific QM System
Explain the mass maintenance of quality info records and the purchase order printout

Lesson: Procurement Documents


Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to:
Describe the various settings for QM in procurement that are available in
the Quality Management view of the material master
Explain the control options using the certificate type
Describe certificate records and how they are created

Lesson: Quality Certificates at Goods Receipt


Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to:
Monitor quality certificates at goods receipt
Store certificates in the optical archive

Retrieve quality certificates for deliveries using the Internet


Copy the inspection results (quality certificate data) that were transferred
using the quality certificate to an inspection lot

Warehouse Management and Quality
Management
Unit Overview
This unit covers the Integration between Warehouse Management and Quality Management.

Lesson: Warehouse Management and Quality Management


Lesson Objectives
After completing this lesson, the participant will be able to:
Describe the process involved in the transportation and placement in storage of the
inspection lot quantity and sample in the context of Warehouse Management.
Track how a sample is transported to the work center after the goods receipt posting,
while the remainder of the inspection lot quantity is placed in storage.

Unit 5
Quality Management in Sales and
Distribution
Unit Overview
This unit discusses the other uses of quality management in logistical processes. Inspections
are related to outbound deliveries. In addition to inspection processing, the quality notification
can also be useful here (for example, to record a customer complaint).
The individual lessons illustrate the respective processes. The inspection lots that arise
belong to inspection lot origin 10 or to inspection lot origin 11. This Inspection lots are
not stock-relevant.
The quality notifications that we can use belong to notification origin Q1.

Describe the prerequisites which must be fulfilled for inspections
for an outbound delivery
Maintain control data for the inspections
