Environmental ethics is the part of environmental

philosophy which considers extending the traditional

boundaries of ethics from solely including humans to
including the non-human world. It exerts influence on a large
range of disciplines
including law, sociology, theology, economics, ecology and g
eography.

There are many ethical decisions that human beings make

with respect to the environment. For example:

 Should we continue to clear cut forests for the sake of

human consumption?
 Should we continue to propagate?
 Should we continue to make gasoline powered
vehicles?
 What environmental obligations do we need to keep for
future generations?
 Is it right for humans to knowingly cause
the extinction of a species for the convenience of
humanity?

moral relationship of human beings and also the value
and moral status of the environment and its nonhuman
contents

Why are Environmental Ethics Important?

• Humans are slowly depleting all of our natural

resources that other generations need for their future

• Our world was created for us to live and thrive on and

we are slowly killing it

• Sustainability for the environment is crucial so that we

do not destruct the world that God created
Causes of Environmental Degradation:
Environmental degradation occurs when the
environment becomes less important or smashed.

Various forms of environmental degradation are

there. When habitats are ruined the biodiversity is said to be
lost.

Otherwise when the natural resources are worn-out,

the environment gets hurted. Environmental degradation
can occur in two ways as in natural way or through human
threatens to surroundings.

The loss of rain forests, air pollution and smog, ozone

depletion are becoming the concerns of largest areas. Also
the destruction of marine environment included here.

The planet's oceans are getting poisoned by pollution

which occurs throughout the world. The effects of marine
degradation are observable even in the remote areas,.
Global environmental problems

As a branch of philosophy, environmental ethics is a fairly

recent development, having become a body of organized
knowledge only in the last decades of the twentieth century.
It came about as a necessary response to a growing number
of very obvious threats to the physical condition of the world
in which we live.

The list of some of these global environmental problems is a

long and familiar one, and many of them came about
because of the massive increase in the growth of the human
population worldwide. As populations continue to soar, the
various problems caused by too many people naturally
increase in both their number and seriousness.

It is predicted that the 2000 world population of six billion

people will rise by another one billion people within ten
years. To the many problems this causes, such as increased
pollution of the air, water, and soil, is also added the
depletion of these and other important natural resources.
SOLUTION:-

Environmental Ethics is needed to guide environmental

experts/decision makers, in making sound judgements and
decisions. Thus, the most effective impact of this project will
be the internalization of environmental ethics as a forceful
tool for the establishment and application of environmentally
sound policies and to take appropriate actions as a key
personal in environmental protection and pollution control. It
is, therefore, aimed to integrate and harmonize
"environmental ethics" in environmental pollution control
practices to increase environmental awareness of the
environmental decision makers and experts
