3 Important Notes

Before using OMStar V500R013C00, verify that Microsoft Office 2007 or 2013 has
been installed on the local PC.
You are advised not to open a .doc, .docx, .xls, or .xlsx document when a report is being
generated. Otherwise, the report may not be generated properly.
You are advised not to copy and paste a report when the report is being generated,
ensuring that the report is generated properly.
Before collecting data, you must obtain the written authorization from customers.
Standard authorization must include the products or issue items, purposes, contents,
scopes, time limits, and other stipulations.
Before collecting data, you must obtain anonymized personal data at the NE side. Ensure
that collected data has been anonymized.
According to data sources required for themes to be analyzed, data collection must
comply with the principle of minimum range collection.
Data can only be used within the authorization scope and time limit. Data use must be
dedicated for a specified person, and records can be queried.
You are advised not to transmit raw network data out of networks of security sensitive
countries and to China.
After an analysis task is complete, yon need to immediately delete raw data and OMStar
projects. Saving raw data or backing up the database is not allowed. Delete the project in
the Project Manager window.
To protect user privacy, you must collect anonymized personal data from source devices.
The OMStar provides a password authorization mechanism for data access and displays
scrambled personal data.
The OMStar can export or save analysis results. Export the analysis results of features
containing personal data with caution. Ensure that the exported analysis results are only
used for network problem analysis. By default, the OMStar exports scrambled analysis
results.
The OMStar is a Huawei internal tool. Therefore, it should not be released to, introduced
to, and recommended to customers. This document is only for internal use.
The OMStar is a stand-alone tool. Therefore, the OS and antivirus software are not
contained in the released software. You need to periodically update the security patches
of the OS and antivirus software.
The OMStar collects statistics about the use of each service feature and function to learn
each service function and tool performance, facilitating tool optimization. The following

information is collected: ESN of the PC, feature startup time, feature end time, feature
ID, subfeature ID, running status, and user name (domain account). Collected
information is not the data from customers' networks. If the script update function is
enabled, the OMStar automatically performs the feature statistics function and uploads
the results to the feature statistics server.

3.1 Impact of the Anonymous Policy on OMStar Features

Impact of the MSISDN Anonymization Policy on Fuzzy Search
The MSISDN anonymization policy affects NDC-based analysis and MSISDN-based fuzzy
search. NDC is short for national destination code.
An example is described as follows: With MSISDN-based fuzzy search, users can obtain
8613612345678 and 13612345678 by entering 136. However, after being scrambled, the
preceding numbers might become E806AABCE0B44EC25128DB and
3698FD5BC48C1E36BEBE64 which have nothing in common.
Affected features are CHR browsing and signaling browsing.

Collision Possibility of the IMEI Anonymization Policy

The IMEI anonymization policy is used to anonymize 6 to 8 digits excluding the IMEI TAC
of an IMEI. It allows the OMStar to compress an 8-digit code into a 4-byte code and obtain a
resulting HASH 32-byte code using the HMAC-SHA256 algorithm. Then, the OMStar takes
and decodes the preceding 4 bytes as the anonymization result.
In theory, collisions are possible because obtained HASH codes are one eighth of the original
codes in length. A collision occurs if two different 8-digit numbers are converted into the
same new 8-digit hexadecimal number after they are anonymized. Based on laboratory data,
the probability of collisions is approximately 0.012%.
Two different IMEIs might be regarded as the same IMEI in the statistical results if their IMEI
TACs are the same. This affects the accuracy of terminal analysis results.
Affected features are call drop in-depth analysis, access failure in-depth analysis, signaling
browsing, and CHR browsing.

Table 1.3 UMTS\LTE Traffic Forecast

Name UMTS\LTE Traffic Forecast

Description For UMTS, The traffic suppression restoration scenario is added in the
routine traffic. The following two factors are considered to achieve the
forecast target that the routine forecast deviation is less than 30%: star
terminal development plan and level-based subscriber development
plan. In addition, function area development and forecast in key event
scenarios are supported.
For LTE, forecast in key event scenarios are supported.
Implementation There are three scenarios:
Daily forecast: Based on performance data of existing cells, the traffic
volume baseline is extracted and traffic restoration is performed for
identified suppression cells. In addition, based on PCHR data of existing
cells, the linear forecast algorithm is used to forecast the impacts of
added terminal placement and subscriber placement on traffic so that
basic forecast traffic is overlaid with the suppression restoration traffic,
star terminal development traffic, and subscriber development traffic.
Function area development: Based on the neural network algorithm,
historical data is calculated to obtain a non-linear mapping matrix
between the formula input and output. The time sequence algorithm and
linear forecast algorithm are used to forecast the formula input, and the
input is applied to the neural network matrix to forecast network traffic
volume.
Key event: Based on performance data, a historical performance data
model is extracted. In addition, the time sequence factor and suppression
restoration factor are considered to forecast traffic volume during key
events.
Operation 1. Start the OMStar and create a project about UMTS\LTE traffic
forecast.
2. Import configuration data, SEQ data, raw performance data (or
PRS performance data), and PCHRs.
3. Create a UMTS/LTE traffic forecast task for analysis.

LTE KPI Report

Table 1.4 LTE KPI Report

Name LTE KPI Report

Description VoLTE-related KPIs and key performance data items are added in
eRAN8.1, 11.0, and 11.1.
Implementation Based on U2000 performance data, network KPIs are displayed in
reports.
Operation 1. Start the OMStar.
2. Create an LTE KPI report task, specify the data source save path,
and set task running parameters for analysis.

LTE Coverage Evaluate

Table 1.5 LTE Coverage Evaluate

Name LTE Coverage Evaluate

Description Analyzing fallback events and identifying frequent-fallback grids are

supported.
Implementation Redirection events in the MR data collected from the RAN side are
parsed to obtain analysis results of fallback events based on weak
coverage when a UE is in the connection status
Operation 1. Start the OMStar.
2. Create an LTE coverage evaluation task, specify the data source
save path, and select Generate fallback events for analysis.

GSM\UMTS Config Parameters Check

Table 1.6 GSM\UMTS Config Parameters Check

Name GSM\UMTS Config Parameters Check

Description This feature allows you to generate MML scripts used for modifying
parameters.
Implementation In the GSM/UMTS parameter check function, the OutPut MML Script
option is added. If this option is selected, MML scripts used for
modifying parameters are generated by default in the check result report.
Operation 1. Start the OMStar.
2. Choose Parameter > GSM Config Parameters Check/UMTS
Config Parameters Check.
