insets are made up of a metal disc
suitably machined to create two
grooves (or slots) - one on each
face - to accommodate two
expanded graphite gaskets. These
gaskets are used, above all, on
equipment with critical operating
temperatures and pressures. The
special shape of the solid metal

the compensation, conformability

intermediate). This double cladding
serves two purposes: the outer
cladding compensates for any
irregularities in the gasket seating,
while the intermediate cladding
compensates for any spaces
between one coil of the spring and
the next. As the tightening torque
is being applied and during the
equipment's operation, the spring
coils work independently, allowing
every single point of the gasket
to conform perfectly, even in the
event of irregularities and/or loss of
parallelism. CF10000 gasket springs
also have the job of compensating
for any sudden changes in pressure
and/or system movements while the
flanged connection is in service. The
gaskets effect the seal when the
seats of the two flanges come into
contact (metal-on-metal sealing),
even with pressures as high as
1.0x10^-9 mbar*l/m*s.
