AFREAK - a project by BADARA SECK & BABA YOGA

A CONCERT BY BADARA SECK WITH BABA YOGA IS A MUSICAL TRIP LEAD BY A
VOICE COMING FROM THE DEEP. THE EMOTIONAL POWER OF ANCESTRAL ROOTS
COMBINED WITH AVANT-GARDE SOUNDS AND RHYTHMS.

Badara Seck comes from a family of Griots from Senegal, whose history goes back to the 13th
century. He lives in Europe and collaborates with Mauro Pagani in Italy and Andreas
Vollenweider in Switzerland. His powerful voice is a modern projection of ancient African
traditions of singing, melted with electric jazz and electronic soundscapes.

Now he is performing with the Baba Yoga band, one of the most advanced experiences in live
electronics and electric jazz in Europe. The members of Baba Yoga (Italian musicians Danilo
Cherni and Gianfranco Salvatore and the Swedish guitarist Lutte Berg) play an assortment of
instruments ranging from the oud and saz from Middle East, and the Baroque calascione, up
to synthesized keyboards and percussions, sampling, and live electronics.

On request, the concert is enriched by the video installations and live animations by the
clever vee-jay VJ Paki.
