Activity In this activity, the students will create a timeline
to better assist them in remembering significant
times, dates, and accomplishments for important
historical figures from this chapter.
The teacher will list the specific people that need to
be included in the timeline. The teacher will then
give examples of what a suitable timeline looks
like. The teacher will stress the importance of
including name, date, picture, and a good summary
of what happened with each person or event. For
example, a picture of Christopher Columbus along
with a brief one sentence summary stating that he
set sail in 1492 using three ships, The Pinta, The
Nina, and The Santa Maria, would suffice. The
teacher will state that students will be able to
reference the textbook and notes from this chapter
to get accurate information about the events and
accomplishments of the individuals listed. The
teacher will then assign an iPad to each individual
student.
The students will log into RWT Timeline app. The
students will create a new user and title the project
Exploration timeline. The students will create a
timeline to depict the accomplishments and
significant events the teacher listed. Once
complete, the students will save their timelines and
use the share button to email them to the teacher
Pedagogy
for grading. The students will be able to use this
timeline to study for upcoming quizzes and tests
for this chapter.
In this activity, the students will be able to
demonstrate ability to accurately label maps with
information learned from this lesson.
The teacher will use BaiBoard 3 to create meets in
which the students will be able to join. Each meet
will have a blank world map that needs to be
labeled. The teacher will divide the students into
groups of three that will work together to
accurately label the blank map. The teacher will
assign an iPad to each student. The teacher will
give each group member the meet number to
access their specific group map. The teacher will list
the information that must be included on the
finished map. The teacher will stress that while this
is a group assignment, each student must
contribute equally.
On their iPads, the students will access the
BaiBoard 3 app. The students will choose to join
meet. The students will enter the meet number
assigned to their specific group. The students will
work simultaneously to fill all information needed
on the map. The groups will discuss which group
member will label what on the map. Once
complete, the groups will save their completed
maps. The teacher will be able to access each
finished group map using the meet numbers
initially provided. The students will be able to use
this map to study for upcoming quizzes and tests
for this chapter.
