5 Installation notes
5.1 MegaTrack Remote SQL Server
If the remote SQL Server is running SQL 2005 or a later version, the database must be created using
a SQL login. The setup will not create a SQL login for MegaTrack, and a trusted connection will be
used with named pipes. The MegaTrack Agent must be started with a domain account to connect to
the remote database.

If the remote server is running SQL 2000 version, either Windows or SQL authentication can be used
to create the database. The setup will not create a SQL login for MegaTrack, and a trusted
connection will be used with named pipes. The MegaTrack Agent must be started with a domain
account to connect to the remote database.

5.1.1 Configuring database access with MegaTrack and a

remote SQL Server
When the MegaTrack database is installed on a remote server, the database connection must be
configured for the following activities:

To allow MegaTrack to process job accounting files.

To allow the end user to connect to the MegaTrack website to schedule and view reports.
Two methods are available to connect to the remote database: Windows authentication and SQL
authentication.

Using Windows Authentication (default)

When Windows authentication is used, anonymous authentication must be enabled in IIS using a
Windows account with database access to the MegaTrack database. The MegaTrack Agent service
must be started with the same account.

1. Create a Windows account with dbo access to the MegaTrack database.

2. Open the PrintEvolve configuration tool and go to the Settings tile > Database tab.
3. Select Windows authentication.
4. Uncheck Local System account.
5. Enter the Windows account user and password created in step1 to replace 'Local System'. This
login will be used to start the MegaTrack Agent service and for Anonymous Authentication in IIS.
6. Check Enable IIS anonymous authentication.
7. Check Restart services after update.
8. Click Apply.

18
Using SQL Authentication

When SQL authentication is used, the SQL password will be stored non-encrypted in the MegaTrack
Agent service configuration file (MT_Agent.exe.config). The MegaTrack application will store the SQL
password encrypted in the registry.

1. Create a SQL user and password on the remote SQL Server and give this account dbo access to
the MegaTrack database.
2. Open the PrintEvolve configuration tool and go to the Settings tile > Database tab.
3. Select SQL Authentication and input the SQL login and password.
4. Uncheck Use Local System account.
5. Enter a Windows domain user account and password to replace 'Local System'. This login will be
used to start the MegaTrack Agent service. This step is required for Active Directory connection
and if polling mode is selected. This login does not require any access to the database.
6. Uncheck Enable IIS anonymous authentication.
7. Check Restart services after update.
8. Click Apply.
