AEROSPACE ENGINEERING

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

This Department was started in the year 2015 to offer UG program in Aerospace Engineering
with an approved intake of 60. Imparting quality education in Aerospace Engineering with
emphasis on research, sustainability technologies and entrepreneurship for societal symbiosis
has been the primary motive behind starting this new program. The Department's main
objective is to create expertise in specialized areas in aerospace engineering such as
aerospace structural design, Aerodynamics, propulsion systems & control systems with focus
on research and innovation.

The Department which has sixty one students in the first batch is headed by Dr. Ravindra S
Kulkarni who is an alumnus of Aerospace Engineering Department, Indian Institute of
Science, Bangalore. He has nearly 27 years of rich experience in teaching and research.
Presently there are two faculty members in the Department and three more would be joining
soon.

ACHIEVEMENTS

The students have formed team ANTARIKSH which focuses on building a nano satellite.
Initiated by 8 dynamic students of Aerospace Department the team now has 60 plus students
from different departments who have already started the design of nano satellite. The team
ANTARIKSH with able guidance from Prof K N Raja Rao, Advisor RVCE, Prof C S Prasad,
Prof K Badrinarayan, Visiting Professors, Mechanical Engineering Department, Dr R S
Kulkarni, HOD Aerospace Department, Dr. P Nagaraj of Telecom Department and full
support of ISRO, plans to launch the satellite in 2018.
