14 Dr. Ghulam Design & manufacture Manufacturing The students are expected to design a thin wall vessel
intended to contain a fluid imposing a certain pressure. The
Hussain of a thin wall students will use the knowledge of solid mechanics in
cylindrical vessel designing phases. To further refine the design, they will
make use of established ASME/API codes. Later, the
students need to manufacture with a suitable welding
process and examine the performance of vessel against
designed pressure.

31 Dr. Miraj Study and analysis of Mechanical Piping systems has vast application in process industry. In
Design,Material the gas fields the installation of piping are carried out by
M. Jan piping failure in a gas Science joining pipe spools that are manufactured far from the site.
field One of the important considerations during installation is
that these pipe spools may be joined such that they fit
properly with pre-existing components. In the worst
condition, the piping may bent, insufficiently supported or
connected to incompatible materials resulting in the
instability of the structure, thereby leading to failure.
Dr. Miraj Design and Mechanical The structural integrity monitoring is a major requirement
Design, of vessels, piping and other equipment of the mechanical
M. Jan development of non- Manufacturing, and process industry. The conventional non-destructive
intrusive inspection Automation techniques are mostly performed during the plant shut
down. In such condition, the inspections are performed by
solution skilled operators, however, due to the use of manual
tooling, this adds to the downtime of the plant resulting in
the non-availability of the plant.
The current project focuses on the study of reducing the
down time of the plant due to non-destructive inspection.
The objective of the study is to design and develop a non-
intrusive solution that will use the conventional non-
destructive tooling to perform the remote and unmanned
inspection during the uptime of the plant.
