Dakota  Access  Pipeline

● The  Dakota  Access  Pipeline  will  be  1,172  miles,  it  will  
cross  4  states.
● It  will  be  30  inches  in  diameter  and  will  be  installed  2-­‐
4  feet  underground.
● It  will  carry  crude  oil  from  North  Dakota  to  Illinois.

Against  The  Pipeline
● The  pipeline  is  placed  under  the  Missouri  River  one  
mile  north  of  the  Standing  Rock  Reservation.
● The  people  who  live  at  the  Standing  Rock  Reservation  
fear  that  the  pipeline  will  pollute  their  water  source.
Sioux  Tribe
● The  population  of  the  Standing  Rock  Sioux  Tribe  is  
8,250  people.
● The  Standing  Rock  reservation  is  located  in  between  
North  Dakota  and  South  Dakota,  1  mile  south  of  the  
Missouri  river.
For  The  Pipeline
● The  company  Energy  Transfer  thought  of,  and  created  
the  Dakota  Access  Pipeline.
● The  Army  Corps  Of  Engineers  approved  the  building  
of  the  Dakota  Accesses  Pipeline.
● The  reason  they  want  the  pipeline  is  because  they  
won’t  have  to  pay  tons  of  money  to  other  countries  to  
get  crude  oil.

Standing  Rock  Reservation,  as  well  as  actress  Rosario  
Dawson.
● During  violent  protests,  praying  Indians  got  Pepper  
sprayed,  shot  by  rubber  bullets,  and  heard  concussion  
canyons.
● 141  peaceful  praying  Indians  got  arrested.
