Difference between Filters and Selection Steps

The below real time example explains the subtle difference between applying filters and selection steps
on an analysis.

During a performance appraisal campaign, a manager pulls up a report to view the number of workers
in various statuses. The report also displays the Total Workers in the campaign in each row of the
output.

At this point, the manager wants to view only those workers that have completed or have the status as
approved in the performance campaign. The manager applies filter on the analysis to get these two
statuses.

The manager observes that the Total Workers dropped to 2 instead of the original value of 13.

The filter on the analysis has modified the Total Workers value to display the count based on only two
statuses.
The manager removes the filter, and applies the selection steps on the analysis to limit the statuses of
approved and completed

Now, the manager is satisfied to see the number of workers and also the total workers appearing
correctly.
