1. INTRODUCTION OF ORGANISATION

OZA LIFE SPACE

Name of Organization: vijay cold storage.

Address:Near sahyadri starch miraj midc,miraj.

Phone No : +919834650316
Type of Construction: Industrial

Cost Of Project: 2 cr

Total Plot Area : 3000 sq.ft

Structural Consultant : Mr. Shriram Joshi.

Architect: Mr. Mahesh Patil.

CHAPTER 2. GENERAL INTRODUCTION:

We have done our field training in VIJAY COLD STORAGE. The site is
situated at

near sahyadri starch midc miraj Office, Vishrambag Sangli. The project of
consists of

area of about 3000 sq.ft. I was assigned as a field trainee at the site which had

several working construction, such as Commercial And Residential.

The building is RCC framed structure. We saw that there management was very

flexible, there were the proper coordination between the all people which over

there working. They had done better material management and proper storage for

materials especially for cement.

When we had started the field training that time execution of work is going on as
below.

line out were complated

excavation were completed

steel binding was in progress.

3. FORMWORK
Shuttering & centering & false work are synonymous terms in common use. The

cost of formwork is estimated at between 1/3 to 1/4 of the total cost of a concrete

structure. It is made of wood & or steel each of which has its own advantages.

The formwork must be strong & rigidly braced which will not say when concrete is

placed & it must be constructed which can be easily dismantled without causing

damage to the concrete or disturbing the remainder parts. If mechanical vibrators

are used. The joints of the formwork must be sufficiently tight to prevent loss of

liquid from the concrete. Material used for formwork is half-seasoned soft wood.

Very dry timber will absorb moisture from wet concrete & swell while green

timber will shrink. The upper surface of forms can also be given a coat of crude

oil (soft, soap, water, white wash, etc.) in order to prevent adhesion of concrete.

Oiling should be done sometime before the reinforcement is placed. The surface

of timber shuttering that would come in contact with concrete shall be well wetted

& a coat of lime wash, raw linseed oil or soap way may be given inside the

formwork, to prevent adhesion of concrete to the formwork. Steel shuttering must

be well oiled. Light greasing is sometimes adopted.

1. Formwork for column

2. Formwork for beam

3. Formwork for Staircase

A. Formwork for column:

i. Material should be water proof.

ii. In formwork there should not be any curvature in the plywood.

iii. Supports are provided in both directions horizontal & vertical.

iv. Proper care should be taken before placing of column formwork.

v. Check the dimensions of formwork box of column

vi. Fix M.S.clamps in sufficient quantity to avoid bulging of column during

concreting.

vii. After marking centerline of column position support should be tight .provide
supports with bracing because to avoid rotary movement of column.

viii. Check any gap at bottom & fill the gap by use of putty or any filling material.

ix.It must maintain the accuracy of the column form position and plumb so that it
is within tolerance.
x. Cover for the column is 40mm.

B. Formwork for beam:

i. Mark the one level of column.

ii. Check the position & level of beam bottom supports with respect to the depth of
the beam.

iii. Width of topi should be the same as the width of the beam.

iv. Topi should be fixed firmly to column.

vi. Check the level of beam bottom supports after leveling the beam bottom.
Supports should be perfectly vertical.

viii. Check the beam sides at each end with the help of line-dori fix straight line of
beam sides.

BEAM BOTTOM
ix. Check depth of beam.

x. Cover for the beam is 20mm

C. Formwork for Staircase:

Staircases provide means of movement from one floor to another in a structure.

C.1. Technical Terms

The definitions of some technical terms, which are used in connection with design
of stairs, are given.

i. Tread or Going: horizontal upper portion of a step.

ii. Riser: vertical portion of a step.
iii. Rise: vertical distance between two consecutive treads.

iv. Flight: a series of steps provided between two landings

v. Landing: a horizontal slab provided between two flights.

vi. Waist: the least thickness of a stair slab.

vii. Winder: radiating or angular tapering steps.

viii. Soffit: the bottom surface of a stair slab.

ix. Nosing: the intersection of the tread and the riser.

x. Headroom: the vertical distance from a line connecting the nosings of all treads
and the soffit above.

C.2. Types of staircase:

i. Dog-lagged staircase
ii. Open well staircase
iii. Quarter turn staircase

D. Formwork for slab

i. Plate should be of a uniform thickness.

ii. Plate should be in perfect right angle.

iii. Check level of slab with the help of tube level.

iv. Formwork of slab should be done after floor PCC completed & fully cured .

v. Oil the centering plates before placing the reinforcement.

vi. Do not put bricks or blocks below the props to adjust ht, use wooden wedges.

vii. Bracing should be provided for each prop to avoid lateral movement.

viii. Check the line, plumb & supports of beam sides.

ix. Fill the gap between plates with papers .

x. Check the slab thickness is marked on the side of slab or nails are driven in the
plywood sides as per thickness of slab.
xi. Check the shuttering as per the checklist before placing reinforcement for
staircase formwork.

E.CURING:

Curing is done by using following methods,

i. For columns wet gunny bags are used.

ii. For slab and beams ponding method is adopted.

10.CONCLUSION:
During the whole tenure of our field training, we have been exposed to lots of

practical information, site conditions, and problems faced during the construction

process. We have gained knowledge of the following

i. We got the knowledge about the various activities of construction work such as
centering work, concreting work, formwork, curing etc.
ii. Reading the drawing like bar bending schedule, plan etc.
