Case Farms Bathroom Break Campaign

Case Farms poultry workers do not have access to go to the bathroom when needed.

This problem was identified and prioritized by Case Farms workers.

OSHA Standard that requires it.

As such, Case Farms poultry processing workers are demanding that the plant manager
of Case Farms Poultry Plant in Morganton, NC

1.) Adapt a reasonable policy outlined in the employee handbook that provides bathroom
breaks to workers within 10 minutes of workers asking for a break.

2.) Train line supervisors on how to implement this policy fairly.

3.) Form a group of workers that will report back to the company to ensure the successful
implementation of the policy.

On August 14, in order to initially engage the company, Case Farms poultry workers
along with allies, will present a invitation letter to the manager of Case Farms, Jason
Arnold, inviting him to a closed meeting with workers and WNCWC staff in order to
mediate the demands outlined above. Petition signatures as well as postcard letters signed
by allies will accompany the invitation letter.

In order to carry out this action:

Workers and community allies will gather in front on the Case Farms plant on Monday,
August 14 at 12PM for a picket style march. This activity will be visible to workers not
participating in the action as they are on their lunch break. (20 minutes)

Workers share testimonies on the issue of bathroom breaks. (10 minutes)

A delegation will enter the Case Farms plant to present the invitation letter to the
manager. The delegation will be made up of a worker leader, a WNCWC staff person,
and an ally. (10 minutes)

The delegation will provide a report back in front of the Case Farms plant. (10 minutes)

The Western North Carolina Worker Center is representing a group of Case Farms workers who
have identified the lack of access to bathroom breaks as the top workplace issue for your
workers. We are asking for your presence at a meeting with representatives from Western North
Carolina Workers Center to discuss this important issue and to see what we can do to work
together to find a solution to this issue.

We are proposing a meeting on September 13th or September 14th at 6:60PM in St. Charles
Catholic Church in Morganton.
