DANIEL DLUH

Biography

I come from a medieval town of Kemarok which lies at the foot of the Tatra mountains,
Slovakia. The people and the stories from my region have become a great inspiration to me.
In 2009 I started to study at The Department of Documentary Film at The Film and Television
Faculty of The Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia. In 2011-2012 I took two-semestral
studies at FAMU, Prague, Czech Republic. A year later, in 2013 I was selected for Talent Camp Odense
2013, Denmark.
My student documentary Old Book Never Rusts was screened at Art Film Fest 2013, Slovak
Republic and won The Best Documentary Award at ern v 2015, Czech Republic.
Despite my major in documentary filmmaking, in 2013 I decided to make a first fiction film of
mine. Everlasting Youth is a short based on a folk fairy-tale from the Slovakia Poland border. It has
been screened at international film festivals including Camerimage 2013, Poland; International Film
Festival Bratislava 2013 Slovak Republic; Zln Film Festival 2014, Czech Republic and Bastau 2014,
Kazakhstan. At ern v 2014, Czech Republic Everlasting Youth won The Best Student Film Award.
My most recent documentary Above the Sky won the 3rd prize at the Looking China 2016 film project.
The hobbies of mine are documentary photography, skiing and listening to Pink Floyd.
