How to calculate the weight
Specications by country The weight of tube is easily calculated. Simply multiply the appropriate alloy
density by the calculation shown below of the required part.
Specications by company
density
Metric x(OD - (OD - 2xT)) xL x/4000=weight
(g/cm)
Steel technical data
(75.0 mm - (75.0 mm - 2x1.0
Example7.85g/cm x x1mx/4000=1.825kg
Titanium mm))

Aluminum bronze
Imperial density (lbs/in) x(OD - (OD - 2xT)) xL x/4 =weight

Nickel alloys Example 0.284 lbs/in x(3.5 in - (3.5 in - 2x0.036 in)) x12in x/4 =1.335 lbs
For imperial weight calculations certain measurements (fractions) need to be converted to decimal inches.
Copper alloys
For an accurate calculation it is also important to allow for the tolerances on diameter and wall thickness as dened by the
manufacturing specication. Please contact us for details.

Density based on 7.85 g/cm3 (0.284 lbs/in3)

Densities
The acknowledged density of mild steel is 7.85 g/cm3 (0.284
lbs/in3). Dependent on the alloy elements added to
manufactured specications this can vary between 7.75 and
8.05 g/cm3 (0.280 and 0.291 lbs/in3).
