Goldin and astronaut Daniel Barry will join U.S. Representative Richard Neal on a visit to Southbridge High School and the Center for Advanced Fiber Optics in Southbridge, MA. Goldin and Barry will talk to Southbridge High School students about the importance of math and science in their future. Barry will also discuss with students his past mission to space. Administrator Goldin will lay out NASA's vision for exploration in the coming decades and discuss how businesses in Massachusetts play a vital role in helping NASA achieve its bold goals on the visit to the Center for Advanced Fiber Optics. The images were taken at approximately 4:00 PM EDT on Oct. 14, 1999. The images were enhanced and rendered at the Scientific and Visualization Studio (SVS) at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, MD. ITEM 2 - AUTUMN FROST ON MARTIAN LANDSCAPE (MARS GLOBAL SURVEYOR IMAGE) - JPL Almost as soon as northern fall began, the Mars Global Surveyor (NGS) Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) started documenting the arrival of autumn frost--a precursor to the cold winter due in late December. The first features to become covered by frost were the sand dunes that surround the north polar ice cap.
