Biography of Charles Wintergarden

In 1879 Charles Wintergarden was born. He was Mr. and Mrs. F.G. Wintergardens son. He lived in
Cambridgeshire, England. He was a chatty, sociable boy. When he was 21 years old he went to
Africa with his regiment. He was very good with horses, so he started working in the stables. He
loved that job. Then, in 1900 he talked about the war in Africa to his family. In August 27 th, 1903,
he married a girl named Constance, when he was 23 years old. He had two children called Dennis
and Maisy. In 1914 the first World War started. In August 1918 he saw his brother in Africa. In
November, his brother died in the war in France. He was 39 years old. Then in 1929 he formed part
of a cricket club. In August 1918, in France, he worked organizing the young lads in a huge
vegetable garden where he could grow food. In 1955 Charles died.
