What is Chizuk Now and How is it Unique?
Chizuk Now provides Chizuk (moral and financial support) to the yeshuvim, and the families that live there, by providing direct support to the deserving people that need the help the most. Acting Director of Chizuk Now, Avi Abelow is in close touch with social workers and key members of yeshuvim to identify the most pressing needs of the yeshuvim. The result is that only the most worthy cases of hard-working people who need temporary financial, medical or social help are helped in the most dignified way possible. Chizuk Now also sponsors events which bolster the morale on the yeshuvim and is involved in projects which improve the quality of life on the yeshuvim. Chizuk now is not an organization in the traditional sense. There are no annual dinners and all advertising and overhead costs are covered by an anonymous benefactor from the U.S. Contributions to Chizuk Now are made through the Central Fund of Israel, which takes no money out. That is why even a $500 or $1,000 contribution to Chizuk Now can make a huge impact on the lives of the people living in the yeshuvim.
How We Can Keep Eretz Yisrael in the Hands of Am Yisrael!
A message from Chizuk Now’s Acting Director Avi Abelow A friend of mine said to me “Avi it’s amazing how you find the time outside of your regular jobs to work so hard for the sake Avi Abelow, of keeping a Jewish hold on the West Bank.” To which I repliedActing Director of Chizuk Now “What’s amazing to me is that so few people are working to keep Israel whole when the threat of a new partition plan is hanging over our heads.”

After decades of being attacked by left wing organizations like Peace Now, residents of Judea and Samaria are welcoming a new initiative that is dedicated to strengthening the families and yishuvim (settlements) in Yehuda and Shomron. Chizuk Now distributes money to families who need help in order to continue living in Yehuda and Shomron, and also to the former residents of Gush Katif. Acting Director of Chizuk Now, Avi Abelow (who is also an Israel advocate, Director of 12 Tribe Films and COO of Veobrand) told Voices that an anonymous donor started the initiative in order to support the families in yishuvim. Chizuk Now is already supporting single mothers helping cover their child care costs, Avi said. It has also already donated to the trauma center for children in the Binyamin region and other projects. Avi said that Chizuk Now is working with the Yesha municipalities and the local social workers to find out who is in need. "The people living in Yehuda and Shomron are representatives of all Am Yisrael to ensure that Eretz Yisrael stays in existence. Chizuk Now working with the Central Fund of Israel which takes no money out is the most direct way to support the families and yishuvim of Yesha."

I have known Avi Abelow personally for many years and his efforts to strengthen the Yishuvim should be supported." Rabbi Avi Berman, Director-General of the OU in Israel
What does Chizuk Now do? We strengthen the yishuvim in Yehuda and the Shomron in three ways. First through the help of local social workers we identify those families and people who are at most risk of leaving the yishuv due to unemployment or other factor and we offer support. Secondly we sponsor events (such as the youth basketball tournament and youth film festival) which add to the spirit/ruach of the Yishuvim. And finally we help improve the infrastructure of the yishuvim (we are also in touch with the Mayors and “vatikim”/veterans of the Yishuvim) by sponsoring such things as a new medical facilities, playgrounds, secure fences etc. This three-prong approach strengthens the Jewish presence in Yehuda and the Shomron. Where the Jewish presence is strongest our chances are strongest in keeping those areas under Israeli sovereignty.

We CAN make a difference. Consider this: Why are the towns of Ariel and Ma’aleh Adumim not in danger of being given up? Because in these places the Jewish presence is the strongest. The rule is as follows: The places where the Jewish presence is the strongest are the places which are least in jeopardy of being lost to the Jewish State!

Later I thought about this conversation and I realized that most people do care a lot but they just do not belive they can do anything about it. We know the Talmud teaches that “Silence is permission” and to paraphrase Pirkei Avot “although we might not be obligated to complete the task we are not free to desist from it”. We also know that G-d helps those who help themselves - if we make the effort it opens the way for Divine assistance for HaShem to brings us the rest of the way…

Living Your Hashkafa!
Avraham was the first Jew. The whole world stood on one side of the world, believing in idolatry, while Avraham stood alone believing in One G-d. Avraham was called an Ivri (Hebrew) which has the same root as “La’vore” to pass over he stood on one side while the rest of the world stood on the other. Today it seems like the whole world is trying to uproot the Jews from part of their land. Every Jew living there is like an Abraham and a Sarah standing up to the whole world. These hard working Jews are living extensions of our Hashkafa what we really believe. They put their lives, and the lives of their children, on the front lines for Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael on a daily basis. Aren’t they worthy of support?
Accomplishments since July 2010
Direct Support for the Yishuvim and the People who live there
Look how much Chizuk Now was able to accomplish in just 6 months!
1. Binyamin Regional Trauma Center for Children. Providing all types of therapies for children. 2. Helping Single Mothers Pay for Childcare - Currently "Chizuk Now" supports a number of single mothers in Gush Etzion and the Binyamin regions. 3. Helping a hard working family in the Shomron cover its basic costs to raise 3 sets of twins. 4. Providing assistance for the building of a playground facility in the mixed religious and secular community of Sde Boaz in Gush Etzion. 5. Providing assistance for the building of an early childcare facility in the Shomron community of Chavat Gilad. 6. Co-sponsoring the one and only Youth Film Festival in Yehuda and Shomron that attracts religious and secular High School students from all over Israel. This event is not only an important morale booster for the youth of Yehuda and Shomron but it is also the only time that the Ministry of Education sends High School students from all over Israel to attend an official event in Yehuda and Shomron. 7. The Gush Etzion Pina Chama - Where local volunteers man a kiosk to give free food and drinks to the soldiers as a thank you from all the residents. 8. The Yulis Gush Katif Youth Basketball tournament - Gush Katif was destroyed but its spirit is alive and well in its people. The Yulis tournament was played during the days when Gush Katif existed and it a vital morale booster for participating youth today. The continuation of the tournament is a highlight for all the Gush Katif youth who experienced first hand the traumatic expulsion. 9. Helping several families in the Shomron region who were recently unemployed due to the economic situation. 10. Only with the support of people such as yourself can this list of Chizuk Now accomplishments grow even longer!!

Others Want to Pay Them to Leave!
The "other side" is not standing still in their uprooting efforts and they are prepared to make sacrifices. Millions of dollars have been raised by Shalom Achshav and now, more recently, millions more are being raised for JStreet. Did you know that Meretz tried to pass a bill in the Knesset which would offer to pay families living in Yehudah and Shomron to leave their homes voluntarily? It’s not enough for us to know we are right, but we also have to do what is right by contributing to "Chizuk Now" which "encourages our Jewish roots to grow deeper".
